Browns Injury Notes: DE Jayme Mitchell Ruled Out
After missing two straight practices with an ankle injury, Cleveland Browns defensive end Jayme Mitchell was officially ruled out Saturday. Even though Mitchell was demoted to being a backup the past two weeks, it's still a hit to be without one of your primary linemen for depth purposes. On a positive note, Auston English played a couple of snaps last week, so he might be ready to take on a bigger role this week if he needs to give starter Emmanuel Stephens a break. English could come in handy for pass rushing situations against a non-mobile Andy Dalton.
Back on Friday, the Browns made a roster move. They waived running back Thomas Clayton, which was probably an indicator that the team expects to have their running backs all ready to play against the Bengals. Taking Clayton's roster spot is defensive lineman Kiante Tripp, who had spent the past seven weeks on the Browns' practice squad. There's a good chance he might be active on gameday.
Head coach Pat Shurmur said that fullback Owen Marecic (concussion) could still play against the Bengals despite not practicing all week. If he can't play, tight end Alex Smith had been getting reps at fullback during the week.

For once I agree LP. If FB is so important in the WCO, why did we go into the season with one?
For sure a TE can swing to a backfield H-Back type role to block, but your basically changing your backfield.
....just need a guy called Byner to play RT...
We have been carrying 1 on the practice squad which is uncommon in of itself, 2 FBs on the active 53 tho? thats crazy talk.
