LB Titus Brown, TE Alex Smith Likely Headed to IR
The Cleveland Browns will likely be making a few roster moves this week. In his press conference on Monday, head coach Pat Shurmur noted that linebacker Titus Brown suffered a "significant knee injury." He will likely be placed on the injured reserve. It wouldn't be surprising if the linebacker Benjamin Jacobs was placed on the injured reserve since he suffered a concussion.
Tight end Alex Smith also suffered what Shurmur termed a "serious shoulder injury," so it would seem doubtful that he would play in the final two games. That probably means more playing time for rookie tight end Jordan Cameron, who has barely seen action this year after being a fourth-round draft choice. The other injury of note was that wide receiver Jordan Norwood suffered a concussion and is referred to as being "day-to-day."
Quarterback Colt McCoy is also day-to-day.

Hope Alex Smith doesn’t come back, too bad bout Titus.

Yea alex smith is just horrible, and titus brown is actually a really good back up.

You’re both morons. Alex Smith has been one of the most consistent producers this year, blocking and catching. That’s why he’s on the field so much.
Mmmm, no. He can stay away.

Smith is a good young player. My only problem with him is his actions between plays. He runs his mouth too much.

He’s a replaceable average player.

Not sure about that. He blocks and catches most throws his way. Why do you think he should go? Are you looking at age only?
by Brownie's Year on Dec 20, 2011 6:39 PM EST up reply actions
I don’t think he needs to be cut immediately, but I don’t think he’s especially good. He could be off the team and I wouldn’t care much.

Actually, I think he’ll be one of the first to go.
by Brownie's Year on Dec 21, 2011 2:20 AM EST up reply actions
He’s a good third TE, he can block well and catch the occasional pass, but third TEs are pretty replaceable. I don’t see a reason to cut him, but I wouldn’t care if they did.

I don’t remember him running his mouth all that much, and Smith is really a veteran at this point and will turn 30 in may.

Bryant , from the Seattle game, got ejected because Smith was running his mouth. Bryant reacted to it and it worked in our favor. After that I’ve been watching Smith. Lots of pushing, shoving, getting in other players faces is what I’ve seen throughout the season. No sir I don’t like it.

I don’t mind it as long as he himself doesn’t get penalized. It’s all part of the game, its a mental aspect of getting into the other player’s head. This isn’t new to sports and I have heard many other stories like this from the NFL with DBs and WRs.
He got Bryant ejected, so he did his job. I like it.

If I remember correctly he was involved in an off-setting in another game. I wouldn’t be looking for #81 if I didn’t think there was a problem. He gets in peoples faces and does the chicken neck crap. You may like it but I don’t.

Well, he got the other guy to have a personal foul too. As long as it doesn’t cost the team, I am okay with it.

Alex Smith has been an asset to the team this season. Guy can play both FB/TE, catches the ball pretty well, blocks well and seems to be a good guy. However, unless Watson leaves somehow its hard to imagine him around in 2012 with Moore and Cameron on board.

We may or may not need him. But to say he sucks is wrong.

Steelers are on the verge of collapse IMO. I wouldn’t be surprised they aren’t a 2-3 win team next year.
Exactley, they arnt the colts.. Or us.

Now they’re gonna go 12-4 next year because you said that. They just don’t seem to lose. And in the playoffs? Forget it. Always playing against teams that had no business playing them (like the Jets last year).

Off Topic: Peter King put out his top 10 WR of all time:
10. Hines Ward Wut!?
9. Larry Fitzgerald
8. S Largent
7. Chris Carter
6. Paul Warfield (got this one right)
5. Lance Alworth
4. Randy Moss
3. Raymond Berry
2. Jerry Rice (wow # 2?)
1. Don Hutson

I still think Andre Johnson’s career has been extremely underrated.

I think it has, but I would still rank Fitzgerald ahead of him, but he is definitely sniffing the top 10.
The guy I think is really underrated (and this is old school) is Speedie mac.

I certainly am not a Steelers fan, but Hines Ware ahead of Lynn Swann???? You still need to see Terrell Owens on this list.
Lynn Swan, has the worst stats of any HOFer, but if one catch can put you in the Hall I am not sure that that is a bad thing. Maybe that Giant WR will be in the Hall, i think he is already out of football… not sure tho.

Helmet choice is a personal preference right? I know teams and the league legislate uniform and shoe brands, but I think the helmet brand and style is left up to the player. I’d like to know if this choice is a common thread among the injured.
What does that MEAN - TO PLAY US OUT?!!?!?
Riddel is the only type of helmet that the NFL has a contract with, if. player wants a different brand like xenith, he have to cover up the brand name and/or logo.

Some of the Steelers seem to have a more square shaped helmet than our players.
