Cleveland Browns starting safety T.J. Ward has not played a game since November 6 when he sprained his foot against the Houston Texans. The Browns had not placed him on the injured reserve in hopes that he could return to action before the end of the season. He tried to come back last week, but seemed to suffer a slight setback. With him already out for Sunday and the Browns needing more bodies at the receiver position, the team just decided to put him on IR finally.
"Well, we're looking at his recovery and the games left available and then had some players that got knocked out of action this past week, so it's a move we needed to make," Shurmur said.
Wide receiver Jordan Norwood has been ruled out as he recovers from a concussion. The team promoted wide receiver Rod Windsor from the practice squad to take his place. Windsor was on the team's roster in the preseason. In terms of the depth chart, I would anticipate that Carlton Mitchell would see more action this week rather than Windsor.
Also, quarterback Colt McCoy has officially been ruled out and will not make the trip to Baltimore. Seneca Wallace will get the start again, and if he gets knocked around, Thaddeus Lewis will need to be ready to jump into action. Pretty much everyone else on the team practiced, including Mohamed Massaquoi and Joshua Cribbs, who are both also nursing injuries.
