It's not the most pleasant thing to think about, but one has to wonder, is this the worst it has ever been for the Browns? I don't mean just this past season, but pretty much the entire existence of the "new" Browns. There was a playoff appearance, and one 10-6 season but all momentum from those years seemed to disappear in the following seasons. I don't mean in just pure statistics, because that would be pretty easy to just look up, but anyway, can anyone remember of stretch of Browns football that has been this bad? While I think there were lot of positives to take from this past year, the powers that be have once again decided to hit the reset button.
It's hard not to be pessimistic, but what's stopping the Browns from two more disappointing years that will culminate in a pounding of a Steelers, which is exactly what happened to Mangini and Crennel. Basically my question is this, as someone who was only a Browns fan for their few years of existence in the 90s and from their new reincarnation, is there reason for hope beyond the fact that there's always hope? In other words, is the toughest it has ever been to be a Browns fan?
