Season in Review Part 1: QB (Part 1) the 3-Ring Circus
Emily and I been thinking about doing a 2010 season in review going position to position. I think it will be a good look back at the Cleveland Browns season. Today I'll be starting with the Browns' 3-ring circus known as the QB position.
This year we had three QBs that played for the Browns, Jake Delhomme, Seneca Wallace, and of course Colt McCoy. Let's take a look at their numbers.
Jake Delhomme:

Delhomme came into the season as our starter; he had an excellent preseason, and had a great first half against Tampa Bay to start the season. However, that success didn't last. We all know what happened, at the end of the half he threw a pick to Ronde Barber, and Tampa then scored. Worst of all he injured his ankle and he never really recovered back to his preseason form. After that injury he ended up throwing another pick in the game and we went on to lose our first game in typical Browns heartbreak fashion.
Delhomme was put onto the inactive list until our game against the Falcons. In that game he came in late in the first half after Wallace was hurt, and didn't help out at all. He fumbled the ball once and it was returned for a touchdown and then he threw another pick or two, and we lost. Worst of all he re-aggravated his ankle and we were left with having Colt start in Shittsburg, but I digress. Finally Delhomme started against Carolina and we all know how that turned out. I'd rather not talk about that game. He won in Miami, and lost in Buffalo. Again, I’d rather not talk about that game.
Overall Delhomme was really disappointing this year, it’s painfully obvious that he is done but at least he served as a good mentor for Colt. Now let’s move on to Seneca Wallace.

Wallace took over for Delhomme after he was hurt in the Tampa game. Wallace was much better than Delhomme stats wise, but there were certain things about him that showed us why he was a career backup. In no game was this more evident than in the KC game. He threw a pick-6 that just killed our chances of winning that game. He made up for it with strong showings in the Baltimore game, and the Cincinnati game both of which we either won, or nearly won. After our win against Cincinnati we hosted Atlanta at home and we were playing very well, until Wallace got hurt. Delhomme came in and well, I already discussed what happened after that.
All-in-all I was pretty pleased with Wallace this year and I would love to see him back next year to mentor Colt in a West-Coast style, and I love having him as a back-up for Colt.
Next post will be about our QBOTF and I think I’ll Emily write that one. Seeing how she is a huge Colt fan.

Wallace is also pretty short for his position. Hard for him to see over the offensive line.
Adam Foote still blows!
True. I was going for a more stat-wise discussion, but next time I’ll add more. Thanks for the input.

So is Brees- occasionally players are good enough to play without the desired “numbers”.

I’ll try to get a McCoy post up this weekend. I’ve come down with some sort of virus and I have a ton of work to do.
I’m sorry. Feel better.

Thought I’d just say at least it was better than the previous seasons Quinderson merry-go-round.
(just wanted to air that phrase one last time). :-)

Anything is better than that.
