Super Bowl XLV - Official Game Thread (2nd Half)

This is the official second half game thread for Super Bowl XLV. The Green Bay Packers lead the Pittsburgh Steelers 21-10 at halftime, but things could get interesting in the second half. The Packers' offense has been dominant and two interceptions have cost Ben Roethlisberger, but all of the Packers' defensive backs seemed to suffer injuries just before halftime. If they don't come back or are limited the rest of the game, then the Steelers will have a great opportunity to get right back into the game. It'll be up to Aaron Rodgers to prevent that from happening.

Game: Green Bay Packers vs. Pittsburgh Steelers
Date/Time: Sunday, February 6, 2011 at 6:30 p.m. EST
Local Television: FOX, Channel 8 (Cleveland)

I love the halftime show but the audio f’ing sucks

by HenryDawg on Feb 6, 2011 8:18 PM EST reply actions

save for that red spawn it’s a pretty crappy show.

by BuenosAires_Dawg on Feb 6, 2011 8:19 PM EST up reply actions

I disagree, I think it’s a pretty awesome spectacle that uses the whole field with a lot of Olympian style flashiness. Unlike having a handful of hand picked “fans” dancing in front of some superstar lip syncing.

by HenryDawg on Feb 6, 2011 8:22 PM EST up reply actions

I’d rather have the fans there. That was all dumb.

If you haven't watched Inception, do it now. Right now.

by SpecialBrownie on Feb 6, 2011 8:23 PM EST up reply actions

Dude those are not fans, they are local “actors” they pick before the SB to pretend they are fans

by HenryDawg on Feb 6, 2011 8:28 PM EST up reply actions

You know what’s the best thing about the Superbowl?

The football. No one at my place is focusing on the game. They were waiting for the half time show and the commercials.

by BuenosAires_Dawg on Feb 6, 2011 8:25 PM EST up reply actions

I usually don’t care about the half time show, even when it has awesome acts like The Who or U2, but those are bands that need to be enjoyed on vinyl or live. However, I like the BEPs and I thought that was a really nice spectacle. Unfortunately whoever was mixing the audio sucked, but they have enough visual candy to make them worth watching on TV.

Note to Bill Byrne "Because you aren´t Texas and you´ll never be Texas"

by realmccoy on Feb 6, 2011 8:24 PM EST up reply actions

I know you’ve studied media and as such should be both awed and frightened by FOX’s media manipulations, that said, you have to expect them to know what they’re doing – they can get 2 million dollar spots by simply shifting money from one media division to another – can you blame them?

by HenryDawg on Feb 6, 2011 8:25 PM EST up reply actions

I understand that, but it’s just stupid.

If you haven't watched Inception, do it now. Right now.

by SpecialBrownie on Feb 6, 2011 8:26 PM EST up reply actions

It really isn’t stupid. They adjust the rates for the viewership – so you end up getting the ad for the same cost per person as regular ads. But you get a bonus – many people watch the SB commercials, but go take a you know what during the rest of the games.

It’s incredibly stupid to bet against your favorite team.

I’ve talked about this with fellow fans before, a large portion can’t find themselves doing it under any circumstance. It’s to the point where it would make one question the fanhood of the said gambler.
