After some delay and having to switch to a new person, with the 21st pick in the 2011 Dawgs By Nature Community Mock Draft, the Kansas City Chiefs select...
Anthony Castonzo, OT, Boston College
This selection and write-up was made by OrangeAndBrownFever:
I believe in the best player available approach, but it also has to make sense. Thie pick was between Castonzo and Jimmy Smith. Looking at the team ranking for last year, the Chiefs rank 31st (185.5 yards/game) with their passing attack. The coaching staff really believes in Matt Cassel as their QB so that cannot be a way to fix this situation. They also just took McCluster and have Bowe and Chambers in their WR corp. Looking at their O-line, there are no studs in the group. The second half of the year they improved, but drafting Castonzo would allow them to move some people around on the line, plus Waters is getting up in years. With his excellent footwork, Castonzo should be able to keep those pass rushers at bay.
After taking Eric Berry last year, getting a lineman to strengthen an already-sound running game and help the passing game develop sounds like a good plan.
The Indianapolis Colts are on the clock next (email has been sent to PaduaDSP).
