Favorite Running Back

Every life long Browns fan has their own favorites. I'm only going to include those from my lifetime. Does our list match up?  My list is not derivative of stats or even the success of the teams the players were on. It is a completely subjective list of my favorite ball haulers. A few bruisers, a few speedsters, and a whole lot of great memories.

Star-divide

1. Peyton Hillis

2. Kevin Mack

3. Eric Metcalf

4. Tommy Vardell

5. Leroy Hoard

This is a fan-created post. Dawgs By Nature assumes no responsibility for the content listed.

Going back just a bit further, Greg Pruitt was a lot of fun to watch (especially ‘75-’78). He is the main reason they outlawed tear-away jerseys.

Any list that has Hillis #1 over Jim Brown gets ignored…goodbye…

Jim Brown was better.

But I was born in 1983, so I never got to watch him play. Only in reruns.

I loved Metcalf while my Dad couldn’t stand him.

LeRoy Hoard had the greatest RB quote of all-time though, “Coach, if you need one yard, I will get you 3 yards. If you need 5 yards, I will get you 3 yards.” At least he knew his game (3.9 YPC)

So awesome.

If you haven't watched Inception, do it now. Right now.

I pick Metcalf. He has the best juke I’ve ever seen. The guy’s knees broke and he fell down on his face. Awesome.

It’s not a lie if you believe it.

I remember that juke it was on the 4-5 yard line going in for a TD.

Sometimes nothin is real cool hand.

that I believe was a double-juke against Cincy on a MNF game IIRC.

If talking RBs in our own lifetimes, Eric Metcalf is clearly my favorite. When I watch the clips of him almost single-handedly beating the Steelers with kick returns, I still get chills. I also remember an awesome pitch play that he took into the endzone to beat the Raiders at the end of the game in about ’93.

1. Metcalf

2. Hoard

3. Hillis

4. Ben Gay

RBs in my lifetime? Oh jeez… I wasn’t old enough to follow football til the mid 90’s, when there were no Browns and I was a Bucs fan, so basically Ive got from 99 til today so… Willy Green? Lee Suggs? Reuben Droughns?

Yeah I’ll say Peyton Hillis.

Funny how both of my favorite RBs were part of huge steal trades. We traded Brady Quinn and some low picks for Hillis, and the Cards in 98 traded down 1 draft slot for two 1sts, a 2nd, and Eric Metcalf from San Diego who picked none other than the infamous Ryan Leaf.

Actually, we traded Quinn for some low picks and Hillis.
