Linebacker Draws 'Considerable' Interest from Browns

Stay connected for news and updates

According to Aaron Wilson of the National Football Post, the Cleveland Browns have shown considerable interest in West Virginia linebacker J.T. Thomas, for reasons other than the fact that his name would look similar to their All-Pro left tackle.

It's unclear as to whether that means the Browns are bringing Thomas in for a private workout, or if they have just shown interest in him through at his Pro Day and other events.

From Wilson:

The All-Big East Conference linebacker ran the 40-yard dash in 4.65 seconds at the NFL scouting combine, bench pressing 225 pounds 23 times. He registered a 9-6 broad jump, a 4.28 short shuttle and a 7.23 three-cone drill.

The 6-foot-1, 241-pounder finished last season with 73 tackles, seven for losses, 2 1/2 sacks, four pass deflections and two fumble recoveries. Draft analysts have graded him as a middle round to later-round prospect. Thomas draws high marks for his intensity, pursuit and athleticism.
