According to Aaron Wilson of the National Football Post, the Cleveland Browns had Troy wide receiver Jerrel Jernigan in for a visit Monday. Jernigan is valued as a second-round draft choice:
Regarded as the top slot wide receiver in the draft, Jernigan boosted his stock with fast times in the 40-yard dash at his campus Pro Day workout with a 4.38 clocking, according to an NFL scouting director. Jernigan caught a school record 84 passes for 822 yards and six touchdowns last season. He also rushed for 322 yards and three touchdowns last season, running back one punt and kickoff apiece for scores.
The Browns seem to be visited a couple of wide receivers as they approach their limit of the number of players they can scout. Monday it was Jernigan, and last week it was Edmund Gates. It'll be interesting to see if they round out their scouting with Julio Jones or A.J. Green, but to this point nothing has been reported yet.
EDIT: Hat tip to shep615 for pointing out this article from this past weekend, where the Plain Dealer says the Browns will meet with Green and Jones.
