Season in Review Part 3: The O-Line God and Co.

Since Emily hasn't put up her WR season in review, I figured I would go with the O-line. So Today's edition will talk about our God Joe Thomas and his teammates on the O-line. First let’s start out with the best LT in the world, Joe Thomas.

Joe Thomas was drafted in 2007 as the third pick overall. We thought we were getting a good O-line prospect we were wrong however, we were getting a great one. Since he has entered the league he has been the runner-up for Rookie of the Year, he has been to 4 Pro Bowls, and he has been elected All-Pro twice. If he continues playing like this, then there is no doubt in my mind that he will be elected into the Hall of Fame. He is over all a great player.

Joe Thomas, who I will refer to as God for the rest of the piece, has some of the best skills I’ve ever seen in an O-lineman. He has crazy strength, he has great technique and footwork, but most importantly he is a great team player. He always seems to be a good locker room influence, and he has been elected captain for the last 2 years. This is one pick that Phil Savage made a good decision on. (Gasp* did I just say Savage made a good pick?) God is one person who I personally love to watch because he gives it his all no matter what he really is the spirit of all that is good in Cleveland.

Next up we have Eric Steinbach. I have always felt that Steinbach is really an underrated LG. He is a guy much like God who always steps in, works hard, and does his best. So he had a bit of a rough year in 2009, and a couple mistakes this year, but overall he is a really solid lineman. I love the experience he brings to the team, and I love his leadership. One knock on him though, is that he is a little undersized for a lineman. I really don’t care though, because he uses his technique and leverage to block. He really compliments God well, because Steinbach is also a really good pass blocker. I am really glad that we have him to step up and work his ass off.

To compliment this great trio that we have, we have Alex Mack. Alex Mack was drafted 21st overall in the 2009 draft. He started from day 1 and has never looked back. He was named All-Rookie in 2009, and he made it to his first Pro Bowl this last year. We all saw the awesome touchdown he scored at the Pro Bowl, and we have all seen his fire, and non-stop motor on the field. He started out as a good run-blocker, and now he is a very good all around blocker. He reminds me of the other 2 mentioned above because they all have very similar intangibles like leadership, are good locker room influences, and all work their asses off each day. I would put this trio against anybody in the league, and its nice to say that.

Thursday I will finish my review with the right side of the line. As always feel free to comment so I could make these a little better. Thanks.
