NFL Network's 100 Top 2010 Players: Cribbs and...?

Here's a link on the Cleveland Browns Official website with an article about Josh Cribbs getting the honorable mention. He was voted as the 84th best rated player on the list which was conducted by polling players from the league. There were a few things that caught my attention from the article that I'll share after the jump. I've also included a poll after the jump on what other Browns player you think deserves to be on this list.

First is that they used our new Head Coach, Pat Shurmur, to introduce Cribbs on the show. I think it's a little ironic that they would use someone who has never coached or even worked with Cribbs to give insight on his abilities. I think someone like Tom Heckert or Colt McCoy would be better suited to give real insight on Cribbs. What this shows to me is that the NFL Network, most likely for ratings, is trying to hype up the new direction of the Browns by using our new, well-unknown coach. And who knows, maybe Shurmer has watched a lot of film on Josh?

My second reaction was when Josh was asked about what other Browns players deserves recognition through this list as well. His choices were our most productive player and our most consistent player, RB Peyton Hillis and LT Joe Thomas, respectfully. I agree with these choices 100%, but what caught my eye is that the article seems to imply that there's only one other Brownie honored on the list. So which player should it be? Cribbs put his money on Thomas due to his overall consistency by going to the Pro Bowl each year of his career.

The last note was the least surprising to me. Cribbs was asked who he thought should be #1 on the list, and he suggested it'd be the best QB in the game, Peyton Manning. He basically suggests that the top player would be the guy who is most difficult to game plan for, and takes up most of your time throughout the week doing it. I agree wholeheartedly with this selection, and I'll be more shocked if Manning doesn't get the selection once it's all said and done.
