McManamon: In McCoy We "Hope"

Stay connected for news and updates

For those of you who have been long-time readers of papers like the Plain Dealer, Akron Beacon Journal, and other sports coverage, you should recognize the name, "Patrick McManamon." He worked with the ABJ for over a decade before joining AOL FanHouse last season.

McManamon has joined a new venture, and that is FOX Sports Ohio. In one of his first columns, he talks presents the case as to why it seems more appropriate to tame the high expectations for Colt McCoy:

This could be the classic chicken or the egg. Did McCoy throw short only because he was asked to, or was he not effective enough to throw the long ball? But dismissing the inability to stretch the defense in the modern era is dismissing reality. Until McCoy and the Browns prove they can stretch the field, they will see eight run defenders, and blitzes on almost every passing down.
