Holmgren: Massaquoi Should See the Field Next Week

Stay connected for news and updates

While wide receiver Mohamed Massaquoi is expected to miss the first preseason game while he recovers from what we now know to be a small chip fracture in his left foot, team president Mike Holmgren believes that Massaquoi will be participating in training camp with the rest of the team soon:

[Massaquoi] is still in a cast, but President Mike Holmgren told SportsTime Ohio that the team was hoping to get Massaquoi back on the field next week. Holmgren also referred to Massaquoi as the team's No. 1 receiver.

Having Holmgren state that Massaquoi is the team's No. 1 receiver should show that the front office is not going to let a couple of weeks of downtime decrease his role this season, despite the fact that the team has a player like Greg Little waiting in the wings. The team might not have many proven starts, but with Massaquoi, Brian Robiskie, Joshua Cribbs, and Little pretty much guaranteed spots, it'll be interesting who makes the final roster between Jordan Norwood and Carlton Mitchell. Norwood seems to be favored over Mitchell to this point.
