I’m just saying I think it’s saying a lot more for a player who’s underachieved his entire career to lead of one the best teams in the NFL, compared to a player who’s played at a probowl level to continue that play after extended injury. The first senario is why the award was made in the first place

by The Licensed Pessimist on Jan 1, 2012 6:43 PM EST up reply actions

You really think DQ was pro bowl level BEFORE the injury?

Smith has never been anything good to come back from though. Why does he deserve something if he’s always underachieved?

XBL - TheRabbit087. Get at me.

by SpecialBrownie on Jan 1, 2012 6:44 PM EST up reply actions

But what has Alex Smith “comeback” from? He has always been terrible,

DQ missed two whole seasons and is borderline Pro Bowl player this season.

by SpecialBrownie on Jan 1, 2012 6:42 PM EST up reply actions

In order to comeback from something, you have to be there first.

by Bernie19Kosar on Jan 1, 2012 6:42 PM EST up reply actions

I agree with Bernie. Alex Smith just blows a little less. What DQ did is more note worthy. Also DQ is doing it on a garbage team

by bross09 on Jan 1, 2012 6:45 PM EST up reply actions

“Comeback player of the year” does not translate to “comeback player of the year from injury”. Smith acquired the form that was expected from him when he was drafted. That is a comeback too.

by BuenosAires_Dawg on Jan 1, 2012 6:42 PM EST up reply actions

No it’s not. You have to be something in the NFL in the first place. Comeback almost certainly means you were able to come back from injury.

XBL - TheRabbit087. Get at me.

Geez…the first thing out of their mouth is his “disappointing career”? Geez, just say he is having a bad season.

I don’t know, for a second rounder he’s pretty disappointing.

Little has been quiet today.

by HenryDawg on Jan 1, 2012 6:53 PM EST up reply actions

I dunno if it’s been “disappointing”. Considering the expectations he set with a good rookie year, sure. But he probably exceeded expectations there.

Point is, “disappointing career” is not a definite and is definitely up for debate. “disappointing season” is not. As an objective announcer, you should say the latter.

I teach good life choices. That's why I almost didn't graduate high school.

by bross09 on Jan 1, 2012 6:57 PM EST up reply actions

In his third year you would expect him to be better, not being the second or third option after Little and Cribbs.

by HenryDawg on Jan 1, 2012 7:00 PM EST up reply actions

a lot of that I believe has been due to injuries this year, but he definitely has been a disappointment this year.

that’s not the point. The point is that he definitively has had a disappointing year and there is no way you could be sane and debate that. Whether or not he has had a disappointing career for a late-2nd round pick is more unclear. If it isn’t an unclear point, an announcer shouldn’t say it like it’s fact.

I teach good life choices. That's why I almost didn't graduate high school.

I was cheering for the Brownies, but now we pick 4th. It is what it needs to be. WE NEED A QUARTERBACK. I take no joy in losing to PIttsburgh

by champion64 on Jan 1, 2012 7:31 PM EST up reply actions

Tamap Bay’s opponents had a higher winning percentage than ours

How many draft threads will there be?

Millions, but it what we have to look forward too. THis team will be better

by champion64 on Jan 1, 2012 7:32 PM EST up reply actions

I take joy in the fact that we made a gimpy rapistburger play the whole game even though it didn’t matter.

by HenryDawg on Jan 1, 2012 7:32 PM EST reply actions   1 recs

It does matter a bit. Now that prick has to play next week.

by Brownie's Year on Jan 1, 2012 7:34 PM EST up reply actions

What he was saying is that since the Ravens won, so it didn’t matter if the Steelers won or lost.

Even Doug Dieken admits Joe Thomas is the real #73

by Doc's Kid on Jan 1, 2012 7:35 PM EST up reply actions

No duh. But since we kept it close and the BAL/CIN game was close we forced Ben to play the whole game.

by Brownie's Year on Jan 1, 2012 7:37 PM EST up reply actions

that’s what I was saying

by HenryDawg on Jan 1, 2012 7:40 PM EST up reply actions

Haha that’s a nice way to look at it.

by ahowie on Jan 1, 2012 7:34 PM EST up reply actions

WE PLAYED A GOOD GAME

by champion64 on Jan 1, 2012 7:33 PM EST reply actions

sry, no moral victories in the NFL

by UnSafe 70 on Jan 1, 2012 7:42 PM EST up reply actions

Steelers are done, Never compete with New England, or Green Bay, New Orleans

by champion64 on Jan 1, 2012 7:43 PM EST up reply actions

I’m worried about this:
1. Luck
2. RG III
3. blackmon
4. We’re stuck with Richardson

I guess there's only one thing left to do.....win the whole ******* thing. - Major League

by SpecialBrownie on Jan 1, 2012 7:36 PM EST up reply actions

The Rams have Bradford and Vikings have Ponder they will not be picking RG3

by champion64 on Jan 1, 2012 7:36 PM EST up reply actions

Rams will be picking the OT from USC

by champion64 on Jan 1, 2012 7:36 PM EST up reply actions

there is no way Kalil gets to #4. He is about as much of a top-3 lock as Luck, maybe even more so.

Yeah, but I fully expect some to move up.

You think the Rams bail on Bradford or they trade away their pick?

Even Doug Dieken admits Joe Thomas is the real #73

by Doc's Kid on Jan 1, 2012 7:37 PM EST up reply actions

Trade, but it would be soooooo nice if he fell. And he might.

I think H&H will do anything possible to come out of the draft with one of the QBs.

No such thing as being stuck with drafting a RB.

Dawgs By Nature - Where winning, apparently, did some bad things.

by Simmsinns on Jan 1, 2012 7:37 PM EST up reply actions

That is too high for Richardson, never selected 4th

by champion64 on Jan 1, 2012 7:38 PM EST up reply actions

Provided we re-sign Hillis I think we are fine at RB

by mgtbfb on Jan 1, 2012 7:38 PM EST up reply actions

That should be a no-brainer for this front office.

Dawgs By Nature - Where winning, apparently, did some bad things.

by Simmsinns on Jan 1, 2012 7:39 PM EST up reply actions

Meh. Gets hurt too much. He won’t take what he’s worth

XBL - TheRabbit087. Get at me.

by SpecialBrownie on Jan 1, 2012 7:41 PM EST up reply actions

I think he’ll take what he’s worth. But I’m hoping H&H know what he’s worth and don’t low ball him so we end up stuck with Obi and Tender Knees.

Dawgs By Nature - Where winning, apparently, did some bad things.

by Simmsinns on Jan 1, 2012 7:43 PM EST up reply actions

They’re going to low ball him because he thinks he’s worth an AP contract. The man missed half the season sick and hurt. That doesn’t deserve an AP contract and he shouldn’t get it.

XBL - TheRabbit087. Get at me.

by SpecialBrownie on Jan 1, 2012 7:45 PM EST up reply actions

AP doesn’t deserve an AP contract. Personally, I highly doubt that Hillis is holding out for an AP contract.

Dawgs By Nature - Where winning, apparently, did some bad things.

by Simmsinns on Jan 1, 2012 7:47 PM EST up reply actions

I bet he was early on, I’m sure he’ll take 1-2 mill a year which seems fair.

by HenryDawg on Jan 1, 2012 7:48 PM EST up reply actions

He wanted DeAngelo Williams money earlier in the year.

by Bernie19Kosar on Jan 1, 2012 9:49 PM EST up reply actions

We won’t get stuck with a pick but if we draft a RB there, I’m driving to Dayton and punching you. You’re in Dayton right?

XBL - TheRabbit087. Get at me.

by SpecialBrownie on Jan 1, 2012 7:39 PM EST up reply actions

I disagree. Especially if it’s top 5.

There is no such thing as begin stuck with drafting a QB.

I teach good life choices. That's why I almost didn't graduate high school.

Never gonna happen

by lightninmcqueen on Jan 1, 2012 7:38 PM EST via mobile up reply actions

Trade the pick. RGIII may be great, but it doesn’t matter yet. Build the lines, stay with a solid program [kofhacknewheadcoachwheeze], and with some time and a new head coach things will improve.

by dabooo on Jan 1, 2012 7:44 PM EST reply actions

a new head coach things will improve.

We’re years away from that. Sadly.

Dawgs By Nature - Where winning, apparently, did some bad things.

Like three out of the four things you said are not happening.

XBL - TheRabbit087. Get at me.

by SpecialBrownie on Jan 1, 2012 7:46 PM EST up reply actions

Of course not. They’re only the things that winning teams tend to do. A solid organization with people who command respect, quality drafts, and systems that keep up with the times on BOTH sides of the ball would be just too much to ask.

by dabooo on Jan 1, 2012 7:53 PM EST up reply actions

Hmmm, Cleveland fans say that every year. How’s that working out?

by HenryDawg on Jan 1, 2012 7:49 PM EST up reply actions

I wasn’t saying it last year, but you make a great point. Look what happens when you jump the gun and hire someone like Shurmur.

Dawgs By Nature - Where winning, apparently, did some bad things.

by Simmsinns on Jan 1, 2012 7:51 PM EST up reply actions

Shurmur will be a good coach I think once he has an OC to help him and when he has more experience.

by HenryDawg on Jan 1, 2012 7:53 PM EST up reply actions

How so? I saw his act here in St. Louis. It isn’t changing.
