Divisonal Playoffs: New York Giants vs. Green Bay Packers
The final game of this round between the Giants and the Packers is another very intriguing NFC match-up. The Giants somehow know how to turn on a switch when the postseason comes around. Their defensive line can get pressure like no other, but Aaron Rodgers is so good that he can fire it to any of his receivers on a rope and have them break the big one. The difference between the 49ers containing Brees early on and the Giants [probably] not being able to is the level of play from their secondaries. The Packers will win this one at home.

4 home teams winning in the Divisional Round of the playoffs hasn’t happened since 2004.

I usually wing it depending on what we have around, but the musts are worchester, horseradish, fresh lime juice, tobasco, and lots of it, salt, black pepper, cayenne pepper, celery salt, a splash of clam juice is nice if you have it.
What’s yours?
Sounds awful.

by Brownie's Year on Jan 15, 2012 4:36 PM EST up reply actions
My standard recipe is:
5-7 drop Worcester sauce
10-12 drop/dashes hots sauce (Franks or Red devil)
1/8 tsp horseradish (prepared)
lime juice (sliced, squeezed)
2-3 dashes celery salt
lots of fresh ground black pepper
3-4 drops A1 steak sauce
2 shot vodka (usually Tito’s or Stoli)
1 small can Campbell Tomato juice
Also do a variation with Sirachi sometimes
by kingcrimson2 on Jan 15, 2012 4:31 PM EST up reply actions
No doubt. I’ll leave out the horseradish and go wasabi, sirachi, and a little bit of regular hot sauce. Triple hot Bloody Mary.

After thinking about it some more I thought they had played later than that. In ‘02 they had the famous botched snap during a field goal attempt to win. The Giants holder threw it down field and they were called for illegal man down field. Niners won by a point. I totally remember that play.

Watching this Giants defense makes me think we’re not too far behind on the defensive side of the ball. We just need one more draft to put the finishing touch on it. Then, it’s a matter of maintenance for long-term strength…

Tuck, Ousi, and Pierre Paul are 3 stud rushers. Sheard looks good and Rubin is ok…we still are more than “a couple” players away, IMO.
by kingcrimson2 on Jan 15, 2012 6:51 PM EST up reply actions
None of those guys are rookies though, we need a RDE, a WLB and a little more experience and we’re pretty much have the type of defense where you’re just drafting the best defensive player available, not because you have a glaring need. We haven’t had that kind of D in a long time.
We’ve been down this road. Again I hope you are right, and agree the current D looks better than any in the last 13 years but I maintain our D is more than 2 players and our O is at least 5 players away.

I don’t think it would happen, and I’m not sure how he would fit with the other players (they seem to be pretty concerned about positive team chemistry, which I like), but I also think they could use a guy that scares people. Our D is solid and they seem to be building the sort of D that is boring but disciplined, like a wall, but I wouldn’t mind a dash of effing nuts added to that equations.

Mainly that defense and a running game are still important, and that’s fine, but you still need a QB. You also need luck, timing and playing strong at the right time. That last one is random, you never know when that’s going to happen.
