Brad Childress, you can now take the offensive coordinator job with the Browns.
Exciting hire for Tampa, just don't know if it will work.

This is interesting. It might turn Tampa in a different direction. Here comes speed in the draft.

Read something on the ESPN rumors page that Childress is also under consideration for the Indy job. Though I think the Tressel to Indy stories have more steam going with them.
I guess Irsay interviewed Tressel again today. We’ll know the Colt’s new hire in the next few days.

It wouldn’t bother me either way. I could care less about Tressel.

Colts would be smart to hire Tressel.
I think he would be a better Pro coach than college.

I think Tressel can be a great NFL head coach, but he would need a good OC.

If he hires Bollman he’s done.

I think Tress is a pretty good offensive mind, especially in the “pro-style” game. But he can’t give his OC the kind of…leash? power? that he gave Bollman.

I’m not sure. Still, he ran a pretty good pro style offense in college, could potentially fill in some of the gaps in terms of having plays that look alike because you get to run more plays in the NFL, and if he had problems in college it was that he tried to run too much stuff. You see NFL teams run everything.
Bollman ran the show this past year…we all saw how that turned out.

And now it seems like Kelly has backed out.
He should pull a Carroll and get out before the ish hits the fan.
Is that coming? I thought we were going to see something on Auburn come out soon.

I think the Auburn thing is dead, which is a crock.
I can’t believe Oregon escapes the Lyles saga with no damage. But again, we are talking about the NCAA. Reasoning does not apply.

Not smart if he backs out of this opportunity.

If he doesn’t think he can make it, I think he’s making the right decision for both parties. You don’t want a head coach who lacks self confidence and is only in it for the money or shelter. Chip may just think that he’s ultimately a college coach and his style, more specifically, his offense might only work in the college system. He did at least give it some thought, and decided it wasn’t for him. Apparently, so much so that it was worth dealing with impending sanctions and a surging USC team in the PAC12.

I read in the AFC North blog that Cam Cameron’s OC contract is set to expire and “there’s no extension on the table” for him. I don’t know if that means the Ravens likely won’t bring him back or not, but I like him for the Browns OC if he doesn’t go back to the Ravens.
He has never been in the Holmgren “tree”, so I would doubt he is a candidate here.

Is Holmgren doing the hiring? I was thinking Shurmur was going to pick his guy.
But in the end, you’re ultimately probably right.
It will be someone who’s familiar with the system and connected to the Holmgren family tree.

Yeah, I would be surprised if they hire a OC to help Shurmur that needs to learn the offense.
