The PD is really missing Grossi…or at least his replacement.

Is it crazy that the only big money FA I really want is Stanford Routt? Likely? No. Fun? Yes.

by Legoman0721 on Feb 10, 2012 11:38 AM EST via Android app reply actions

I’ll really like it if it means we don’t draft Claiborne at #4.

by Jon @ DBN on Feb 10, 2012 11:47 AM EST up reply actions

There are better FA corners than Routt. Brent Grimes.

by Roger Dorn on Feb 10, 2012 12:35 PM EST up reply actions

I’d like to get either one of them but I dont want to break the bank on either.

I would pay big money for Grimes. I think he is one of the best CB’s in the NFC.

by Bernie19Kosar on Feb 11, 2012 7:13 AM EST up reply actions

I hadn’t thought of him. That would be good too. I haven’t watched Grimes (except when Hillis hurdled him), what are his strengths?

by Legoman0721 on Feb 10, 2012 6:46 PM EST via Android app up reply actions

Really good short area burst. Quick.

Based off what you stated here, I would say that running underneath ball carriers is one.

This. We won’t get him. Of course maybe one of these guys will want to play with Haden

Bud Shaw thinks the Giants blueprint of having an elite QB coupled with a dominating pass rush isn’t the right blueprint?

by Roger Dorn on Feb 10, 2012 12:35 PM EST reply actions

Well when has that ever worked?

by nickjs21 on Feb 10, 2012 1:34 PM EST up reply actions

eli is elite? just because you’ve won the superbowl twice doesnt mean you’re elite.

I am sure there is a debate going on, but in my opinion elite.

by Roger Dorn on Feb 10, 2012 5:01 PM EST up reply actions

Oh I think he’s currently in the upper tier, and I’ve been a huge Eli critic his whole career.

He talked a big game before this year began, and in my opinion he’s backed it up.

Don’t you know that us cold weather cities have to run the ball!?

by Bernie19Kosar on Feb 10, 2012 2:04 PM EST up reply actions

Indeed. How many times do we need to say this? We need five pro-bowl linemen and a pro-bowl RB along with at least one pro-bowl WR before we should even think about drafting a QB. A QB has no chance of success in Cleveland without all those things.

Once you start comparing a QB to Drew Brees, you've lost the argument.

by TheDriveStillHurts on Feb 10, 2012 5:29 PM EST up reply actions

Really? All I ever wanted was a decent o line thats not wasting the team money , a decent set of running backs and a decent set of WR’s. Right now we are lucky to have half of each. You get us those, then QB can suceed anywhere. Anything more is a bonus.

A bargain is something you don't need at a price you can't resist....

If it was as easy as just wanting it we would have it.

by HenryDawg on Feb 10, 2012 7:05 PM EST up reply actions

Put a great QB behind center and you automatically have all of those things.

In the article he is referring to the blueprint being: barely make the playoffs after a season of underachieving.

It was not an argument about personnel. In fact, he acknowledges and gives the Giants credit for that:

Can any team do what they did? Sure thing. Just so long as it has an elite quarterback, a Super Bowl-winning coach, a dominant four-man pass rush and the most underrated receiving corps in the league.

Oh, and recent Super Bowl experience.

The quarterback should also be able to direct seven game-winning drives as Eli Manning did. And it doesn’t hurt if the Super Bowl opponent didn’t beat a team with a .500 record until the AFC Championship game, as New England did in a narrow and fortunate defeat of Baltimore.

This was not a good NFL season by any stretch.

by Jon @ DBN on Feb 10, 2012 2:15 PM EST up reply actions

Haha, you got me. I didn’t read it. Don’t see how records indicate a blueprint though. Player personnel is a blueprint.

by Roger Dorn on Feb 10, 2012 5:02 PM EST up reply actions

Yes, I don’t think anyone PLANS to barely make the playoffs, Bud.

Steel Nick

by nickjs21 on Feb 10, 2012 5:19 PM EST via Android app up reply actions

Except in 2007, they did the same thing without an elite QB and without a Super-Bowl winning coach. So, there’s that.

Once you start comparing a QB to Drew Brees, you've lost the argument.

by TheDriveStillHurts on Feb 10, 2012 5:34 PM EST up reply actions

That’s a fair point.

by Jon @ DBN on Feb 10, 2012 5:42 PM EST up reply actions

And in 2007 they beat the most dominant team in recent history.

by Legoman0721 on Feb 10, 2012 6:50 PM EST via Android app up reply actions

Which the deciding factor was again the defense. The Giants D really won the game for New York. Without them smothering Brady almost the entire game, New Englands fast break Offense would have taken it.

Well Bud Shaw has taught me that super bowl winning coaches win super bowls. I never would have thought of that.

im gonna make a suggestion for this daily piece:

rename it Daily Dawg Chow. That way, it’s a daily feature and people won’t feel weird about commenting on it after 12pm every single day like I do.

Has anyone really been far even as decided to use even go want to do look more like?
