A new, improved top 10 to shred.

1. Sign Matt Flynn to a moderate 4 year deal. He brings immediate competition to Colt McCoy, that we wont get from RG3. (Snag McNabb on the cheap for mentoring/#3QB, if possible).

2. Franchise tag on D'Qwell Jackson. Browns' Comeback player of the year.

3. Re-sign Peyton Hillis if Marshawn Lynch can't be lured away from Seattle. Hillis has great hands, Lynch is a more durable beast.

Star-divide

4. Redskins trade up with Rams to take RG3. Makes drafting Blackmon, WR, at #4 easier for Browns fans to agree with.

5. Trade up #22 and a 3rd from '13 to move up to #16 for Cordy Glenn, RT/RG, at #19-20. Brings size, speed and versatility.

6. Zach Brown or Lavante David, OLB, at #37. Fujitas best days are long gone but, he'll add nice depth.

7. Geore Iloka, FS, at #68. A #1 at position in the 3rd to replace Mike Adams is to enticing to pass up. (especially if we trade away our ATL 4th round pick).

8. LeMichael James, Factor back, at #101. Give 6th rd pick to trade up 5 spots if necessary. Change of pace back that finds the endzone.

9. Malik Jackson, DE, at #119. Earned All-SEC First team as a DT but has played both, inside and out. Looks more natural at End.

10. Joe Adams, WR, at #132. A sub 4.4, 40. Ran back 4 punt returns for TDs in 2011.

*11. Donte Paige-Moss, DE at #196. Stock was much higher before neck injury. Worth risking a 7th round pick on.

I’m seeing a pattern. It’s starting to seem like RG3 supporters aren’t looking past the first 4 picks. If there were only 10 guys in the draft, I’d like Griffin more than I do.

I just went to that site. Was gunna buy a used iron set with my tax return but I could score a new set there for the same price. Those TaylorMade Burners for #300 seems like a great deal.

Damn those prices are cheap, I want to try the RBZ because I believe in that slot tech stuff but they have a RAZR Hawk for $250!

Those RBZ Irons look efing awesome. Not a fan of TM drivers though.

But yeah, that site is cool. I saw a Diablo driver for less than $100 that I might get. I just want the head. I’ll have to go somewhere and put a stiff steel shaft on it.

RBZ? Diablo? 2nd tier equiptment. Just remember, you get what you pay for. If you golf a lot, pay up for top shelf and you won’t need to buy new clubs as often, saving $$$ in the long run.

To a degree, you’re right. Why would I give a shit about who we might take in rounds 6 and 7? First of all, they aren’t likely to make the team; second, once they’re on our team, they’re Brownies and I’ll know who they are. I don’t need to waste time that I don’t really have scouting college football players. I know what we need and I know what’s at the top. That’s all I really care about until the picks start getting made.

I would love Glenn as a guard. I don’t like drafting guards in the first. Glenn will probably go in the first.

There are any number of guys who would be a better fit at tackle, and they’ll be guys who won’t go in the first round. Either of the FSU tackles, Mike Adams, the kid from Cal, and the kid from Ole Miss.

Glenn will be more natural at the Guard position in the NFL because he isn’t great at playing in space. He’s simply not that great of an athlete. 5.3 is slow for a “much smaller lineman”, too.

1. Free agency, DEFENSE
DE/DT Calis Campell from the Cardinals. Even if we can resign Brian Schaffering.
OLB Erin Henderson from the Vikings
ILB Dan Conner from the Panthers if D’Qwell Jackson fails to stay
CB Brandon Carr from the Chiefs
FS Dwight Lowery from the Jaguars, if Mike Adams fails to stay. Not much of a upgrade.
2. Free agency OFFENSE
QB Matt Flynn from the Packers
RB Mike Tolbert from the Chargers, if Peyton Hillis fails to stay.
WR Steve Johnson from the Bills
OG Carl Nicks from the Saints
OT Anthony Collins from the Bengals, not real excited about.
K Conner Barth from the Bucs
3. Well I don’t see the Browns getting all these players, just a idea of whats out there. I don’t see a upgrade at Safety or Off Right Tackle here, so on to the Draft.
4. #4 Pick. OT Jonathon Martin Stanford 6’6 305. Our starting right tackle for the next ten years. Did I mention Joe Thomas has not missed a snap in five years, makes me worry. Moves Tony Pashos to back up.
5. # 22 Pick. OG David DeCastro Stanford 6’5 310 Our starting right guard for the next ten years and future All Pro. Moves Shawn Lauvo to back up. With Jason Pinkston or Eric Steinbauch at left guard we now have depth.
6. 2nd Rd CB Chase Minnifield Virginia 6’0 185. Our # 2 corner so we can try the Sheldon Brown to Free Safety saga.
7. 3rd Rd DE Cam Johnson Virginia 6’4 265.
8. 4th Rd OC Michael Brewster. No back up center on the roster.
9. 4th Rd RB Cyrus Gray Texas A&M 5’10 200 4.47
10 5th WR Joe Adams 5’11 190 4.38
11. 6th Kicker Quinn Sharp Oklahoma State 6’1 190
12. 7th Punter Bryan Anger 6’4 205

Franchise tag on D’Qwell Jackson.
Hopefully won’t be necessary. It seems like both sides want to make a deal.

Agree with #3.

Redskins trade up with Rams to take RG3.

I don’t see this happening.

Trade up #22 and a 3rd from ‘13 to move up to #16 for Cordy Glenn
This is oddly specific. Why do you think we’ll need to trade up? And why to 16? This just seems totally ridiculous to me. You absolutely hate trading up for Griffin but here you are throwing away early picks on a right tackle.

Zach Brown or Lavante David, OLB, at #37

I may be wrong, but isn’t Zach Brown supposed to go earlier than this?

LeMichael James, Factor back, at #101. Give 6th rd pick to trade up 5 spots if necessary.
Here you are again, trading up! In the fourth round! Are you Phil Savage? Seriously, what makes a running back worth trading up for in the fourth round that a quarterback in the first doesn’t have?

Don’t really have a comment on the rest of it.

He thinks Cincy wants OG early in the draft so he wants to get above them. Personally, I do not see Heckert spending a 1st and 3rd to move up (if that trade is even possible) to draft a OG when we found a decent and improving starter in the 5th round last year.

If it were really up to me, I would have McCoy at QB, I would have Blackmon, Streeter, Little and MoMass at WR. I would leave our TE’s alone, I would leave our running backs alone (re-sign Hillis). I would get a shiny new RT and a FB that can block. Defensively Iloka could run in all nickel and dime packs and I would have Burfict on all 1st and 2nd downs and DQ on 3rd downs. Mostly, I would replace Jayme Mitchell with someone who could get a sack. That’s just if it were up to me.

I can get behind Flynn if Heckert is behind Flynn. Im not locked into RG3 bc I do not have the evaluation skills to decide if he is “it” (though I like him a lot). I think we just need to address the QB situation in the worst way. If the FO is behind a guy, I will be too (until I see otherwise like in McCoy, but then again I do not think the FO in into McCoy too much).

by -bobby- on Feb 13, 2012 11:39 AM EST reply actions

I don’t mind most of this. but…there’s no way your could trade up to #16 overall with a #22 and a 3rd next year… this is a 1st round pick… you’re at least giving up a 2nd rounder… also we can find a quality RT at #22, probably even Glenn

by alirenee on Feb 13, 2012 4:49 PM EST reply actions

It’s not likely, but it’s still possible. The move last year, from 27 to 21, cost an additional 3rd (70th), to move up 6 spots.

by DawgsNHawgs on Mar 9, 2012 12:36 PM EST up reply actions

A couple thoughts:

A. How do we use our 3rd round pick to trade up in the first, yet still somehow use it in the 3rd round on the Boise State safety?

B. Blech on trading up for Glenn. Yuck. That’s paying a price for a non-impact position.

C. Mike Adams will end up being a top 15 pick I believe.

D. I like Brown in the second. A lot.

E. Love LeMicheal James, even with his crack problem*, but there is no way he is there in the 4th round. Someone takes him in the second (hope that’s not us).

by Bernie19Kosar on Feb 13, 2012 4:51 PM EST reply actions

I wouldn’t want him in the 2nd either but can you imagine getting RG3, Kendall Wright and LeMichael James on the same offense. We go from the slowest team to one of the fastest overnight. I like Hillis’ hands out of the backfield but I think he’s mostly too slow to scare people much.

by HenryDawg on Feb 13, 2012 4:56 PM EST up reply actions

That would be awfully scary. I would not mind a 1st round of Griffin-Wright at all. I feel as tho the RB will be someone no ones heard of.

Some sites were calling him the best OLB in the draft, and I saw him mocked in the late teens/early twenties quite a bit. I actually think I saw him mocked to us at 22 a couple times.

I’m not saying I wouldn’t be thrilled with him in the second, I just don’t know if it’s likely.
