Daily Dawg Chow (2/14/12)
Cleveland Browns:
- "Any AFC North interest in Randy Moss?" (AFC North Blog) - Jamison Hensley takes a look at why each AFC North team won't be getting Randy Moss.
- "NFL Free Agents: Defensive Ends" (Waiting For Next Year) - Waiting For Next Year continues their look at the NFL free agents with the defensive ends.
- "The Remote Report: Letting The Browns’ NFL Draft Plans Run Their Course" (Dawg Pound Daily) - Dawg Pound Daily talks about trusting the Browns' front office and being overwhelmed by the nonstop draft coverage.
NFL:
- "Randy Moss wants to play in 2012" (ESPN) - Randy Moss wants to end his brief retirement from football and get back in the NFL. Will anyone take him?
- "Report: Peyton may be interested in playing for the Texans" (PFT) - This seems crazy to me. I understand that Peyton Manning in his prime is a lot better than Schaub, but I just don't see it happening.
- "Steelers GM says no decision made on Hines Ward" (Yahoo! Sports) - It appears that Hines Ward and the Steelers aren't quite ready to break up... yet.
- "Rashard Mendenhall's status iffy for '12" (ESPN) - It looks like Mendenhall may be out for the 2012 season due to an injury suffered during a game against the Cleveland Browns.
- "Routt says he likes the atmosphere in Buffalo" (PFT) - After being released by the Oakland Raiders, Routt is the first FA to shop around for potential suitors. He likes Buffalo.
You might have noticed the name change. The poll closed with 63 percent of the vote in favor of Daily Dawg Chow, so there you have it.

I did too, but Daily Dawg Chow seems to make a little more sense because not everyone is going to be reading in the morning. I don’t think I would like being a late riser that wakes up every afternoon knowing that my Dawg Chow has already gotten stale. I mean, come on, it’s been out since the morning! “Daily Dawg Chow” seems to imply you can pull that chow out of the fridge during the day anytime you want.
The amount of comments on this blog weighing the pros and cons of a post’s name is simply stunning.

We didn’t need a change to “Daily Dawg Chow”; all “Morning Dawg Chow” needed was a couple more O-lineman and some decent WRs.

The idea of Manning playing for the Texans intrigues me. They would have to find somewhere for Schaub to go, I would imagine (I can’t see him wanting to play second-fiddle on his team). Maybe they take Manning and put Schaub on the trading block. Maybe they would love having the winningest QB in NCAA history who also happens to be the sweetheart of the state of Texas sitting and learning behind Manning? I could be down with Schaub under center in Cleveland.
That would be an interesting scenario that I could be happy with. Would the Texans have the cap room to hold them both to dangle Schuab as trade bait, or would they have to pretty much outright release him?
I’m just a little fuzzy about the rules relating to offseason roster moves, like if Schuab would hit the waiver wire(putting us near the front of the line for him were this to happen and we could assume the remainder of his contract) or if he’d be an outright free agent.
Lets see, the Texans grab Manning, put Schaub on the trading block, the Browns offer Colt and a late round pick or two, the Texans accept offer, as a result Seneca Wallace bitches his way out of town, talk of the Browns taking RGIII goes away (thankfully) and the Browns first pick in the draft is traded to a team who wants and needs RGIII for a first and second round pick this year and next years first round. They use these picks to upgrade the O line and get a top WR, beef up the DE and LB spots and the Browns go on to a 9-7 season next year.
More like Colt, our late 1st rounder and a 3rd rounder.
