2012 NFL Draft: Sign Up for the DBN Community Mock Draft
It's time for the second annual Dawgs By Nature Community Mock Draft, where we will collectively do a full-blown mock draft for at least the first two rounds. I will not be participating in the Mock Draft again, so that means all 32 teams will be open for you to become their "general manager." There are some special stipulations as to who can sign up, so be sure to read how things will work (after the jump).
- Each person may only have 1 team, and teams are decided on a first-come first-serve basis.* In order to sign up for a team, leave a comment in the comments section. Make sure you list a specific team -- do not say, "give me any team."
- You must be a Browns fan to sign up. In our first attempt to get people to sign up, you must have been a member for at least one month, and you must have at least ten comments posted on DBN. If we don't have 32 members who sign up after a couple of days, I will open the field to other individuals or see if anyone wants to take on a second team. Note: staff members are eligible to pick a team, but not the Browns.
- To reward members who have been with us for awhile, in order to sign up for Cleveland, you must have been registered at Dawgs By Nature for at least 2 years.
- The draft will be done via email.
- After the first team makes their pick and writeup to me via email, I will send the next person an email. They will have 24 hours to respond to me with their pick and writeup. If I don't receive anything, I will have to consult other sources for the pick. Please be on time if you choose to sign up -- this is meant to be a community mock draft, not my mock draft!
- Please do not "sabatoge" teams or be unrealistic. For example, if you are picking in the top five, don't skip Bowers because you hope he falls to Cleveland. If you skip him, do it because you truly think that team has a greater need. Also, if you have the Steelers or Ravens, don't draft a fifth-round prospect or a quarterback in round one or something so out of the ordinary. You are free to reach on your picks and explain why, but try not to do it to be unrealistic.
This is what will be required from each person who makes a pick via email:
- Player, Position, School
- One or two paragraphs on why said player is the right choice for that team. This can include comments about them being the best player available, how they fit the team's scheme, etc.
- One to two sentences on how much of an impact you think he will have next season.
- This is not intended to be a draft profile! Remember, base your writeup on why the team needs that player.
Now then, let the sign-ups begin! Any questions or suggestions, let me know as well.
One more thing: as soon as you sign up in this thread, if you know you were the first person to pick a team, send me an email at pokorny@pfcritics.com telling my your username on DBN and your preferred email address. One of the big things that slowed us down last year was the fact that people's e-mail addresses on SB Nation were not the ones they checked regularly.

I think whoever has the Ravens should be able to draft a QB early in the draft because one of their scouts already came out saying they think this years QB class is even better than last years. They might be thinking about taking a QB high to put some fire under Flacco… or maybe even to completely replace him when he crashes and burns this year.
Hmm. Does anyone want the Panthers? I’ll take just about anyone in the top 20, but Panthers I just pulled out of a hat.

My pick: NE Patriots
I’ve been a HUGE DBN fan for a while now – decided to sign up a week or so ago in effort to start participating on topics Jon & Chris have brought to the table each day. Props on the hire Chris!
Perhaps you’ll find it in your heart to give a first-time poster mock-draft control over the New England Patriots. If another DBN vet wants the Pats, I understand the logic in going with them over a comment section Kyrie like me.
However, I thought it’d be a great entrance to the DBN community for me to:
1: Represent a team I despise almost as much as the [enter AFC North rival here] due to living in Boston yet loving the Browns.
2: Partcipate in one of my favorite Internet time-suck topics: mock draft.
3: Trying to predict a Bellicheck first round that doesn’t involve trading down! No trades, right?
Thanks for considering!

Can I throw my hat into the ring to take the BROWNS???
I have been extremely quiet on the Browns boards because I have gone back to school. But, it’s draft time, baby!! I will make time!!!
If I can’t have the Browns, I will take the TAMPA BAY BUCS.
The Drive, The Fumble, The Shot and The Decision define me. I live, die and breathe Cleveland Sports. The Browns will make us proud some day. When that day comes...I will be complete.
I’d like the Borwns. If they’re not available I’ll take the Dolphins. If they’re not available I’ll take Tampa Bay.
Lol, quick typing for the lose. I literally clicked post and was immediately trying to hit the back button! Mercy!

I’m not trying to step on your toes Chris Pokorny, I just went down the list and wrote down who they wanted in the order they posted. I did this so it would be easier for people to know what teams are taken and available.
That was very helpful. I’ll take the Jets then.

I would also like the Bills. I jokingly took the Raiders, they only have a 5 and 6 this year.

Dallas
I like to try them out. They are in a strange place IMO, & they have many needs, but are at a bad spot for getting the best talent.
A bargain is something you don't need at a price you can't resist....
If I agreed with you we'd both be wrong!
My mother never saw the irony in calling me a son-of-a-bitch!
Once you start agreeing with TDSH, you know that you're wrong.
