They look even worse in larger detail. Even the 1977 Vancouver Canucks think these are ugly.

Except those are awesome. Numbers on the leg? Now that’s thinking outside the box.

Hipsters love these jerseys. Just giving you fair warning.

Hey, sometimes hipsters know what’s up. There’s a reason the hipster meme is liking something before it was cool. A lot of stuff hipsters like turn out to be cool.
Those jerseys are great.
Steel Nick
Can I ask, if it’s not a "it’s so tacky that it’s cool" case, what is the appeal to those jerseys? I’m legitimately curious what is so many people see in them. I want to know because I’m not seeing it.
I don’t know, maybe it is that’s it’s so tacky it’s cool, but I just see what I like. I’ve completely lost my sense of irony, so I can no longer tell if I like things to be funny or not.
Steel Nick
I’ve met people that honestly think “ugly” is the new “not ugly” or uh, “in.”
I think I understand what you mean, you look at something and either like it or not without thinking about it. That’s how I am, I just look at the diarrheal rainbow and turn it down.
It just fits the time period. Those color contrasts were in.
We A’s fans still wear the 70s retro gear. Our old bright yellows were awesome.

I saw another site that had a mock up of a new helmet. Hideous with an off-centered Dawg logo. I dont mind minor adjustments (i.e. orange pants, Brownie elf logo on jersey somewhere, etc) but NO logos on the helmet.

I don’t think having five Colt McCoys on our team is a good idea at all.

I think it’s important to have stylistic appeal to young and older generations. There has to be a more creative solution other than wearing all white every game. Consumers like options… that’s why you have 15 different options of everything at the grocery store.
Tradition is a must, but style and image is must keep up with the times. Can’t be afraid of change.

Change just for change’s sake isn’t a good thing either. I don’t like any of those concepts myself.

I think they have plenty of reasons to spice up the uniforms, not just to change for the sake of change. The current image/style of the Browns is a bit stale and bland imo. I think a few minor tweeks would show fans that the team is progressive and confident enough to take a risk in appealing to some young consumer dollars while standing by tradition. Fans like variety when it comes to merchandise… our current jersey line up does not provide much.
Hate to say it but younger (not all) Browns fans don’t give two shits about the great history of our past players/teams. Those days don’t connect to the youth.
That being said, I think the plain orange helmet and plain brown jersey look spectacular.

The Browns definitely have an aging fan base. Seems the kids rock the Steeler crap and the old guys are the only ones wearing Browns gear (no offense to younger Browns fans here who I know rock their jerseys and other assorted gear with pride). However I don’t think blinging up the unis is going to change that. Winning SBs will though.
I like these because they’re not blinged out. Looks pretty normal/mild compared to all the other ones we’ve seen.

I haven’t seen this at all.

Seems that way around Columbus. All the kids are steeler fans and their uncles like the Browns. I’m sure its not the same level in Cleveland.
Ah, well, Columbus is a weird spot for Cleveland sports. Plenty of fans, but plenty that don’t feel any connection at all.
Steel Nick
Plus, they have to live in Columbus, yuck.

I’ve been to both. I guess I just can’t feel the magic. It just feels so artificial; the place has no history to it. However, seeing as how it’s the only place in Ohio with any bloody jobs, I’ll probably end up moving there and having to like it anyway.

This is pretty accurate, it’s a city that was basically built in the 80s and 90s. There are a few spots with decent character but nothing to get overly excited for. Between the state, the OSU, the banks and insurance companies, jobs are pretty good here.
The indie music scene is pretty good if you’re into that sort of thing. My buddies got our foot in the door, but sometimes things don’t work out the way you intend to.

We lived in the Short North/Victorian Village area for most of our adult lives and it was pretty great but either we got too old or all the people who invaded it every weekend got more annoying.
I can see that. I liked going there but I don’t think I could deal with all the noise.

Columbus is alright, just giving you people a little crap.
For me though, Columbus will always just feel like a huge college town, or an overgrown suburb. It’s not a bad place to live, but it’s just not for me.

I’ve always thought about moving to Cleveland one day, but if I ever go back to Ohio I’m sure I’ll go back to Columbus instead. That’s a great city to be around even having to deal with all the Steelers/Bengals bandwagoners.

Disagree wholeheartedly. I’m a Columbus Brownie, plenty of Browns fans here trust me. There’s a fair share of Stooler Bandwagoners and BenGals fans, but it’s primarily a Browns Town in MHO. I think there’s at least a dozen Browns Backers clubs here. The flags are flying in my neighborhood every Sunday. And of the Steeler fans I’ve spoken to here at bars, most haven’t even been to Pittspuke or could point to it on a map.
It’s understandable to have a mix. 3+ hrs to pit, 2 to Cincy, 2 to Cleve….3 to Indy, but don’t see many Colts fans around. Bengals fans don’t have the same passion we do it’s noticeable. Columbus is a great part of Browns Nation…no need for Ohio on Ohio crime! Save it for Pittspuke!

So you disagree wholeheartedly, even though you agree that there is an understandable mix of non-Cleveland fans, which is what I said. Got it.
Steel Nick
No you said in regards to Cleveland there are plenty of fans that don’t have any connection implying that Browns fans in Columbus some how aren’t as strong of fans as those elsewhere. If anything Columbus is a great Browns town because you actually have the opportunity to argue with fans of those lame Steelers and Bengals, and there are plenty of those around to support you in our cause. I’ve been to Cleveland over a dozen times in my life supporting the Browns and Indians and I lived in Columbus for 23 of my 24 years. There’s no reason to think Columbus Brownies are inferior to any other fan.

What are you talking about? I never said that.
I said there are plenty of COLUMBUS people that don’t have any connection to Cleveland sports, which is why HenryDawg sees more young Steelers fans in Columbus. That cannot be argued with. There are more Cleveland sports fans in Cleveland than in Columbus. I never questioned the allegiance of Cleveland sports fans in Columbus. End of story.
Steel Nick
Well my apologies. They way you phrased the statement made me think you were referring to Cleveland fans in Columbus rather than NFL fans in general in Columbus.

I like 1,3, and 5. I think they need a little tweaking with but overall not bad. I saw a guy with a hillis jersey on as I was leaving work, I wish my phone had not died cause I would have taken a pic of it to show you guys. I thought it was pretty sweet, it was silver( I know I know, far from the normal browns uniforms) with black numbers and orange outlining the numbers, then on the shoulders were three stripes, white in the middle, orange next on both sides, and then brown after that. Man I wish my phone had not died, it sounds hideous but not really all that bad IMO

Arrrg!
Nothing but white pants + home and away jerseys. Maybe a Brownie off the right shoulder. Keep it simple. Can those stripes at the shoulders.
What’s wrong with the simplicity of our current uniform? Why should be mold with the trend just to make it more pleasing to a new generation? I’m almost 24, and I would much rather seeing the standard white and brown on game day than any of these sleek renditions. We’ve lost a lot in Cleveland. No reason to lose our tradition too. I can guarantee new uniforms won’t increase our winning percentage either.

One thing I really like about this design are the two stripes on the pants instead of three. I just like how it’s a little more bold.

I will say though that the only real problem are the striped sleeves on the undershirt. Not all players (especially linemen) like to wear those kind of undershirts so it wouldn’t be uniform with half of the team missing those stripes on the field.
