With the fifth pick in the 2012 Dawgs By Nature Community Mock Draft, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers select...
Trent Richardson, RB, Alabama
This selection and write-up was made by Rounds94:
After doing research on the needs of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, it was difficult to make the decision between Trent Richardson and LSU’s cornerback Morris Claiborne. Tampa Bay is in desperate need to bolster up a needy secondary, but I felt that Richardson was a talent that can’t be passed up.
I have found there is a great deal of Buccaneer fans that would be very happy with Richardson in their backfield next season. He has great strength and soft hands. He is widely considered to be the best running back prospect since Adrian Peterson.
Richardson should make an immediate impact on whatever team drafts him. I respect teams that have a solid running game and Richardson will make other teams have to game plan for him.
I wouldn’t be surprised if he accumulated over 1,500 yards of total offense in his rookie season.
Are the Buccaneers facing a similar situation to the Browns at running back, where they have to decide if they will stay with a big back (LaGarette Blount) or go with the "elite" guy? The Buccaneers had everything go wrong for them last year, but I think it would be a better pick to take Morris Claiborne to help out against high octane offenses like the Saints (and potentially the Panthers).
The Washington Redskins are on the clock next (email will be sent to Groza).
