Hi everyone, my name is James and I am one of the managers over at Cat Scratch Reader, SB Nation's Carolina Panthers blog. I'm here to essentially get your input on something we've been talking about tonight over at CSR, and see whether you think the Browns would make the trade postulated.
To cut a long story short- it seems we're working out RB Mike Tolbert of the Chargers this weekend, and basically we have no clue why. With both DeAngelo Williams and Jonathan Stewart on the roster adding a 3rd RB like this is both complete overkill, and unwise from a cap perspective.
Local writers have speculated that this could potentially open the doors for the Panthers to trade one of their RBs, and if that was the case I'm assuming it would be Jonathan Stewart, purely because he isn't on a giant contract.
So, I ask you this: Do you believe the Browns would entertain trading the #22 overall pick for Stewart in a straight up deal? Stewart is 24 years old and has less than 1,000 total carries in his career due to splitting time with DeAngelo Williams.
Thanks for taking the time, and best of luck to your team in 2012. Truth be told I've always had an affinity for the Browns, and I'd like them to stop being the underdog in the AFC North (no pun intended).
