Browns haven't made a splash in free agency, just as was expected with this front office. However, after the first week hype has settled down, I still see several good players sitting to be plucked up that can help this team without eating too much cap.
While its been well documented the overpayments in FA (Eric Wright?) should be avoided, the addition of quality young players never hurts and gives you more flexability in your depth drafting in later rounds....especially key this year since we have 50 picks. I'd like to hope the FO is at least looking into these players mentioned below: a) because i like their skills and age, and b) they either fill a current gap in roster or team weakness.
Michael Bush (RB) Oakland - This is like HIllis's brother from another mother. They are identical players, both big strong backs with solid hands out of the backfield. Bush has been in a backup role for years so his tread is light, but been very serviceable on a run heavy team when spotted to start. Maybe not everydown, but a nice piece for a RBC including Glassman and BJax. I feel this move also allows us freedom with draft to wait until 3rd for Turbin or James. He is 28.
Curtis Lofton (ILB) Atlanta - He is a pro-bowl caliber LB that excels at run defense (our glaring weakness). Team him with a rejuvinated D'Qwell and we have a pretty envious interior LB corps. Gocong played well but I'd rather have a Lance Briggs to my Urlacher than a Marvin Mitchell. He is only 26.
Matt Lienart (QB) Texans - just kidding...making sure you are paying attention
