Bernie Kosar lucky fans gave him a vote of confidence after 1985.

A view from the cheap seats:

Bernie Kosar was lucky that the Cleveland fan base gave him the thumbs up in 1985.

In 1985 the Browns slipped into the playoffs with an 8-8 record. Gary Danielson started 6 games and went 4-2. Rookie Bernie Kosar started 10 games and his record was 4-6. This was despite having two running backs who both had rushed for over 1000 yards Kevin Mack and Ernest Byner. The 1985 Browns also had an all pro tight end Ozzie Newsome, and a pretty stout defense. Last year the Browns went 4 -12 with an injury decimated offensive line, a mash unit for running back, a rookie and kick returner as their wide outs. The Browns play in the toughest division in football. The other three teams made the playoffs.

McCoy's start has been slow. He has been shown the door already by many fans. I say that we need to give McCoy some help and give him a vote of confidence. Similar to what Bernie Kosar received from fans back in 1985.

Kosar 124 passes completed 248 passes attempted for a 50% Completion rate 1578 yards 69.3% QBR

McCoy 135 passes completed 222 passes attempted for a 60.8% Completion rate 1576 yards 74.5% QBR

We all know that Bernie Kosar had a great career. After that rough first year he wasn't vilified and tossed to the side. Browns fans stuck by him. Probably because they made the playoffs that year. Let me close with this thought. The last time the Browns were any good is when they had Braylon Edwards WR and Kellen WInslow TE. Two legitimate weapons. With J. Lewis in the backfield even Derrick Anderson was all pro.

Go Browns !
