Browns Week in Review: May 27 - June 2

Last week's "pilot" edition of the "Week in Review" went over well, so it shall continue moving forward! This feature gives a brief snapshot of what happened during the past week related to the Cleveland Browns (or important NFL news). After the jump is a recap from the week of May 27 - June 2.

  • Sunday, May 27th: PFF called safety T.J. Ward a secret superstar despite missing action last year. ... There were an array of concussion-related stories posted on Cleveland.com, including one in which former Browns running back Jamal Lewis recounted the 2009 season, when he played through miserable concussion-like symptoms. ... Lewis also filed for bankruptcy.
  • Monday, May 28th: It was Memorial Day, so there wasn't much news in the football world (in terms of temperature, it was a record-high for this date in Cleveland). ... Peter King pondered if the change made to the trade deadline would have had a major butterfly effect had it been implemented last year.
  • Tuesday, May 29th: The Miami Dolphins were picked as the team that will appear on "Hard Knocks" this season, and only 25% of you said you'll watch. ... SB Nation picked Cleveland as the least likely team to go from "worst to first" in their division this year.
  • Wednesday, May 30th: The first day of the week's three-day OTA sessions kicked off, with the media in attendance. ... The depth chart for the first-team offense and defense during the practice session was revealed. ... QB Brandon Weeden, RB Trent Richardson, and RT Mitchell Schwartz ran with the first-team offense. S Eric Hagg stayed with the first-team defense ahead of S Usama Young, and OLB Scott Fujita was absent as he dealt with the bounty scandal. ... Pat Shurmur held a news conference after the OTA session, talking a lot about wide receiver Greg Little. ... It was reported that Leroy Kelly Jr, at age 27, will receive a tryout from the Browns on June 4th.
  • Thursday, May 31st: Despite the receivers having a rough day on Wednesday, all eyes were on Greg Little after he revealed that he lost 11 pounds to get quicker. ... Chris Gocong's mother is fattening up players with cupcakes. ... Brandon Weeden was optimistic enough to call for "playoffs," and was also complimented by quarterbacks coach Mark Whipple.
  • Friday, June 1st: Retired Steelers receiver (and his stupid face) will be featured on Football Night in America this year. ... Brandon Weeden likes Mario Kart, and a debate among fans broke out. ... For those with a ton of time on their hand, a 10,000 word diary was posted by documentary maker Sean Pamphilon, mostly about his correspondence with linebacker Scott Fujita and the bounty scandal.
  • Saturday, June 2nd: Running back Trent Richardson was interviewed by SB Nation; in the video, Richardson states that he is representing "Dawgs By Nature."
