Last year, Tim Tebow and Brady Quinn were teammates with the Denver Broncos. We all know the story with the Broncos' quarterback situation; Tebow led them to a surprising playoff run last year, but with his difficulties at throwing the football, many speculated as to whether or not Quinn might be the better option. When the team won the Peyton Manning sweepstakes in the offseason, both Tebow and Quinn were made expendable. Tebow now plays for the New York Jets, which Quinn is in Kansas City.
Back in February, Quinn ripped into Tebow in an interview with GQ magazine. He later said that his comments did not reflect his true opinion of Tebow, but the writing was on the wall that he and Tebow were not the best of friends. When speaking at a Boosters meeting this past Sunday for the University of Florida, Tebow decided to retaliate a bit against the former Browns quarterback. He did not mention Quinn's name, but again, he couldn't have been more obvious with who he was talking about:
"I had a teammate at Denver who played the same position as me and he went to the University of Notre Dame. He would brag about his university, how great it was. Most of us in the locker room were like, ‘C’mon, we all had opportunities. We chose not to go there.’ … But he talked so much about his university that it became easy. I’d say, ‘Your whole team had one guy who ran under a 5.0 40 [yard dash]. Our kicker ran under 5.0.’"
Not exactly a huge zinger, but when you consider Tebow's demeanor, this might just be the ultimate low blow.
