Obviously this is way early but after reading up on some of the new guys, I was curious what areas of the team everyone still believes needs an upgrade. I didn't do the assessment this week because of the supplemental draft and the fact that there is still 3 OT's over there.
I don't remember who, but someone suggested that we could perhaps focus on BPA next year. I tend to think it's a little early for that kind of positivity but that would be great!
Positions we seem to have shored up:
Quarterback - Running Back - Tight End - Wide receiver - D Line
Time will tell on Weeden and Richardson. As of yesterday the receiving corps looks much better. Some of our young TE's have a lot to prove this year and everyone knows what happened to Phil Taylor, but overall I feel we're pretty talented and/or deep at these spots.
Positions I would personally like to see improved:
O Line - Linebacker - Defensive Back
I know we expect Pinkston and Lauvao to step up and be our Guards but something in the back of my mind makes me yearn for another stud on the O-line. You can never have too much quality on your line. As far as the backs go, Brown is getting a little long in the tooth. Another shutdown corner to go with little Joe would be fantastic. This is not to take away from Brown who did a solid job last year. Lastly my number one glaring weakness, Linebacker. D'Qwell is great, but he can't do it by himself. This is where I would use my number one pick next year barring some sort of disaster at another position. Don't forget there is always free agency, who is gonna be a URFA next year?
So, that's it. Thoughts, arguments or any other feedback is greatly appreciated.
