Football is back, my friends! OK, not the real riveting stuff quick yet, but an exhibition game nonetheless. If you're anything like me, at this point you're just ready for football, any football. Tonight the NFL kicks off the preseason with the Pro Football Hall of Fame Game between the Arizona Cardinals and New Orleans Saints. The Hall of Fame Game makes it's triumphant return after having been cancelled in 2011 due to the lockout.
It's true that the final score of this game doesn't really mean anything, but there are still reasons to tune in. Scout for some future fantasy prospects. Kevin Kolb may actually be in a battle for his starting role at QB with John Skelton. Rookies are making their NFL debut, such as former Notre Dame wide receiver and Cardinal first draft pick Michael Floyd. Will Sean Payton's absence show at all for this Saint's offense?
Even with things to look for, preseason games often tend to drop off after just the first quarter. But I've been starved of football for so long, I'll probably watch most of tonight's game, even if it's just on in the background for the final quarter.
