Weekly UDBNFL Review (Update)

PaduaDSP mentioned a weekly fantasy review in a comment yesterday. He was referring to the official league, but I thought people may be interested in seeing a rundown on the unofficial league too. I threw together a quick sample of what I thought people might like to see, and am looking for feedback. Is there anything else you'd like included? Any formatting requests/suggestions? Is there any interest in this existing at all? Let me know.

Simmsinns (Jon @ DBN) 82.54 vs Now I’m Done (StuckInPa) 105.32

Summary: Adrian Peterson, Maurice Jones-Drew, Jermichael Finley, and Philly’s Def had nice games for Simmsinns, but they could not overcome weak performances from Wes Welker, Peyton Hillis, and Mason Crosby. Now I’m Done got strong games from Peyton Manning, Arian Foster, Miles Austin, Malcolm Floyd, and Bal Def on the way to an opening week victory.

Game High Points: Adrian Peterson 20.70 (Simmsinns)

Surprise of the game: Tough to choose in this matchup. I’ll go with Bal Def scoring 18.0 (Now I’m Done)

Most Disappointing Performance: This has to go to Wes Welker (Simmsinns) and his 1.4 points

Notables: Adrian Peterson and Maurice Jones-Drew both outplayed expectations coming off injury and a holdout, respectively.

1 WV Brownies (Kimble_79) 112.10 vs 9 Pitchin’ A Trent (Browns town) 92.18

Summary: Robert Griffin III, Jeremy Maclin, and David Akers had strong games, lifting WV Brownies over Pitchin’ A Trent despite strong games from Tony Romo and Ray Rice

Game High Points: Robert Griffin III 25.0 (WV Brownies)

Surprise of the Game: I refuse to give this to RGIII, so we’ll go with David Akers’ 16.0, including an NFL record-tying 63 yard field goal.

Most Disappointing Performance: Trent Richardson’s 4.4 points were disappointing to Pitchin’ A Trent and Browns fans everywhere.

Notables: This game would have been a bit more lopsided if WV Brownies hadn’t left Reggie Wayne (13.5) and Randall Cobb (13.7) on the bench. Pitchin’ A Trent missed Anquan Boldin’s 12.6 points, but it wouldn’t have been anywhere near enough anyway.

2 Patty’s Battlers (FrenchToast979) 110.16 vs 7 RandallPFloyd QB (bross09) 99.68

Summary: Patty’s Battlers got strong games from Demaryius Thomas, BenJarvus Green-Ellis, and Matt Bryant. Disappointing games from Greg Jennings, Hakeem Nicks, and Michael Turner doomed RandallPFloyd QB.

Game High Points: Drew Brees 23.56 (Patty’s Battlers)

Surprise of the Game: Demaryius Thomas (Patty’s Battlers) nearly doubled his projected points. Kevin Smith scoring 21.1 points for RandallPFloyd QB was impressive as well.

Most Disappointing Performance: Buffalo Def scored -2.0 points.

Notables: Both teams left strong scorers on the bench in this matchup. Patty’s Battlers left Stevan Ridley (21.2) on the bench while RandallPFloyd QB didn’t play Lance Moore (18.0).

3 Midway Mayhem (The New Kardiac Kids) 108.86 vs 10 Crazy 88 (Gabe Durrant) 91.72

Summary: Matt Ryan, Andre Johnson, and Michael Bush carried Midway Mayhem to victory over Crazy 88, who was led by real-life teammates Jay Cutler and Brandon Marshall.

Game High Points: Matt Ryan (Midway Mayhem) by a wide margin. He scored 32.46 points compared to 15.6 projected.

Surprise of the Game: A nod to Matt Ryan, but we’ll give this to Andre Johnson and his 17.9 points for Midway Mayhem.

Most Disappointing Performance: Dustin Keller’s 0.7 points for Midway Mayhem was disappointing, but Ben Tate’s 2.8 for Crazy 88 was worse.

Notables: Midway Mayhem had two players who doubled their projected scores (Ryan and Johnson) as well as a third on the bench (Jacob Tamme).

4 Brownie the Elf (emily522) 105.52 vs 12 Stig-o-sauruseseses (Stigosaurus) 78.22

Summary: Julio Jones and NYJ Def had big days for Brownie the Elf in the biggest blowout of the week over Stig-o-sauruseseses who watched 3 WRs, 2 RBs, and a TE fail to reach their projections.

Game High Points: Aaron Rodgers 23.82 (Stig-o-sauruseseses)

Surprise of the Game: Fantasy writers projected a break out year for Julio Jones, but his 22.8 points still rank as the surprise of this game.

Most Disappointing Performance: There were many, but we’ll go with Larry Fitzgerald (6.3) and Antonio Gates (4.3).

Notables: Stig-o-sauruseseses already had to consider RB a weakness, but injuries to both Fred Jackson and Rashad Jennings made things that much worse. Both teams left some points on the bench, as C.J. Spiller scored 23.4 on Brownie the Elf’s bench and Pierre Garcon had 16.9 on the bench for Stig-o-sauruseseses.

6 130lbs Of Kosar (Brownie’s Year) 94.42 vs 8 Weeden Adderall (SpecialBrownie) 92.40

Summary: Despite losing control of his team, 130lbs of Kosar, with the help of Matt Forte and Shonn Greene, was able to pull out a victory over Weeden Adderall and Frank Gore.

Game High Points: Matt Forte 18.0 (130lbs of Kosar)

Surprise of the Game: Not that it’s a surprise to Browns fans, but Phil Dawson (Weeden Adderall) had a strong game, tallying 12.0 points.

Most Disappointing Performance: Victor Cruz was worse than expected as he dropped passes and only scored 5.8 points.

Notables: Weeden Adderall left Randy Moss and his 10.7 points on the bench. 130lbs of Kosar couldn’t bench the inactive Jonathan Stewart, but was able to overcome 0 points from the RB.
