According to Bruce Feldman of CBS Sports, the Cleveland Browns have hired Daron Roberts to work with defensive coordinator Ray Horton.

At this time, it's not certain what role Roberts will fill. His first official title in the NFL came in 2008 as a defensive quality control assistant for the Kansas City Chiefs. In 2009, Roberts became an assistant to the secondary coach for the Detroit Lions. In 2011, he left for the college ranks to join West Virginia as the team's special teams and wide receivers coach. In 2012, his title changed to being the secondary coach at West Virginia. You can get a good sense of how Roberts' background in a piece by Sports Illustrated from September 2012.

Roberts was fired in early December, presumably due to the struggles of West Virginia's pass defense:

The Mountaineers struggled in pass defense, finishing 119th of 120 FBS teams in the statistic, giving up 327 yards per game through the air. The cornerback position was a revolving door, with five players starting at least one game at the spot.

While no official title has been announced for Roberts yet, I have two guesses in mind: assistant defensive backs coach, or defensive quality control coach. The Browns did not have either of those titles on their staff last season, but Horton had both of those titles on his staff in Arizona.
