Well as our QBs get worse our future draft choices become more valuable. A condition that we've not taken advantage of in the past. Looking at our past I wanted to see how our trades have worked out.
I looked at the early rounds only and considered the players drafted in our slot, but also looked at other players that were drafted in the next 5 spots.
2007- K.Kolb, F. Jones, N. Folk plus 2 ---> B.Quinn & E. Wright
2008- B. Brohm (could have been C. Henne or D. Fowler) --> C. Williams
A.Flueken (C. Avril)--> S.Rogers
T.Choice --> B.Bell
2009- M.Sanchez(BJ Raji, M. Crabtree)--> A.Mack, 3 Jet stiffs, D.Veikune plus 1
K.Winslow, J.Williams (Michael Johnson) --> M.Massaqoi, M.Rucker
2010- M.Bennett plus 2--> M.Hardesey
B.Edwards-->2 Jet stiffs, S. Lauvao
2012- M.Kahil(R.Tannehill,L.Kuekly) plus 3 --> T.Richardson
R.Hillman --> J.Hughes
Summary- Trades haven't worked as well as just draft the best player available...still end up with needs filled.
Dexter Jackson, Ryan Tannehill, JJ Watt, Ciff Avril, Justin Houston, Ronnie Hillman, BJ Raji, Michael Johnson replace...... C.Williams, S. Rogers, A. Mack, P.Taylor, G.Little, B.Weeden, Indy's 2014 1st & J. Hughes
Of course that would assume better draft judgement. Still better with best player instead of for need.
