Hi fellow Browns fans. I used to be a pretty regular poster around here but have been lurking more often than not. I've had a big year in which I moved from Northern Ohio to Southern California. I had NFL ticket last year and have followed the Browns as closely as a new job, new home, new area would let me. This is an alien land indeed. Football is not a common conversation around the "water cooler" or, more likely, the cappuccino machine at work. It amazes me that there are very few lightening bolts up in cubicals where I work in San Diego. I usually know more names of players on the Chargers squad then most of the football fans I encounter. When it comes to football and the Browns, northern Ohio is a special place.
Ironically, when I started my first day at work I was shown my cube where I would sit and right across the isle was what could only be described as a "shrine" to the Pittsburgh Steelers. The cube was decorated with pennants, banners, posters, towels and anything else black and gold you can imagine. The owner of this cube, Ron, only wears black and I mean only. Black jeans, black shoes, black T-shirt every single day. He is the embodiment of the hated Steelers fan and... one of my best friends in the office. Strangely enough, finding someone from the AFC North that is passionate about the game and his team was refreshing and we are definitely kindred spirits when it comes to football. But if this guy were in my office in Cleveland, I'd hate his guts--how weird is that?
I'm not writing this to show that I'm some kind of super Browns fan... my reason for writing this is to find out if anyone knows of any Browns backers that might meet to watch a game now and then at a public location near the Murrieta/Temecula or north San Diego county area. I likely won't be a regular attendee at such a gathering but it would be nice once in a while to be around the best football fans on the planet.
