According to Pro Football Talk, the Cleveland Browns have released tight end Kellen Davis a day after he was named to the 53-man roster. This will likely be one of many moves the Browns make as they try to shape their roster for opening day.
1-year deal, $715 K base, $165 K guaranteed ($65 K SB). @ProFootballTalk: Browns release TE Kellen Davis, per league source.— Adam Caplan (@caplannfl) September 1, 2013
Davis' departure is not a big surprise. Entering his sixth season, the Browns signed him to a relatively cheap deal this offseason with the hopes that he could be a solid blocking tight end (he was not known for his pass-catching skills). Davis seemed to fare rather poorly this preseason as a blocker, though.
