Ask The Phinsider

Robert Mayer-USA TODAY Sports

Hello Browns fans,

It's that time again. A new season. New expectations. New chances. And both of our teams have a lot of newness about them, with a lot of questions that won't really be answered until well into the season.

Ok, a canned beginning. My apologies, but I am excited!!

This here post is an SBNation tradition, where you get to ask fans of the upcoming opponent about their team. Yes, fans are often irrational, homerish, or spurned pessimists (that story about the final request of a Browns fan is just one example). We don't necessarily have qualifications either. Still, we are the people who know our team the best, especially in comparison to national media outlets. I love the opportunity to talk (civilly) with fans of the opposing team so I can learn more about the game and its players before Sunday.

In case you aren't familiar with these types of posts, you guys ask us questions about the Dolphins and, hopefully, a few different members of thephinsider.com come here to answer them. I will do my best to answer what I can, although hopefully some of our more knowledgeable members (including those of us who have played or even coached the game at a higher level) will join in as well. We also hope that some of you will come to thephinsider.com and post a similar thread so we can ask you guys questions about the Browns (and I have many).

Some points to start things off:

1) Our biggest hope and biggest question is QB: Is Ryan Tannehill capable of carrying this team. He has all the tools, is mobile and strong armed, and he can make all the throws. He still has some ball placement and accuracy issues, plus I think he needs to work on his "changeup" throw and sometimes put more touch on the ball. If he turns the corner this season, we will be a good team. If not, we will be back to the drawing board. He had a decent preseason stat wise, for whatever that is worth.

2) Dion Jordan is set to play. How much he will play and at what position (DE or LB) is unclear to me.

3) Our D is solid. It might be great, or it might be pretty good. It has a few new pieces though.

4) Many of us were big Davone Bess fans. He didn't quite fit what we wanted to do, but he is just a solid slot receiver who can make some spectacular catches and just knows how to get open on 3rd down. I hope he has a spectacular season... starting in week 2 :)

Thanks. Enjoy your labor day and I am looking forward to a good, injury free game.
