Nuggets:
- Browns WR Davone Bess opens the season up against the team that traded him during the 2013 NFL Draft. Norv Turner was the Dolphins' offensive coordinator from 2002-2003. Strength & conditioning coach Brad Roll was Miami’s assistant strength and conditioning coach from 1996-2003.
- Former members of the Browns who now play for the Dolphins include LB Jason Trusnik and CB Dimitri Patterson. Trusnik is a backup, and Patterson is a starter.
- DE Desmond Bryant needs one sack to extend his streak to five consecutive games, dating back to last season with the Raiders.
- C Alex Mack has started all 64 career games and has not missed an offensive snap since joining the Browns in 2009. LT Joe Thomas has started all 96 career games and has also not missed an offensive snap since joining the Browns in 2007.
- RB Trent Richardson needs 155 rushing yards to establish the second-most by a running
back over his first 16 games in a Cleveland uniform since Kevin Mack had 1,104 in 1985. Jim Brown holds the record with 1,577 rushing yards in his first 16 games from 1957-58. Richardson currently has 950 rushing yards in 15 career contests.
- The last time these two teams met was on September 25, 2011 in Cleveland. The Browns emerged victorious by a score of 17-16 after Colt McCoy threw a game-winning 14-yard touchdown pass to WR Mohamed Massaquoi with 0:43 seconds to go in the game. Neither of those players are with the Browns any more. In fact, the only player you can still recognize from the offensive stat sheet that day is WR Greg Little.
- The last head coach to win their debut as the head coach of the Browns was Bud Carson in 1989, when we trounced the Steelers 51-0. Bill Belichick lost 26-14 to the Cowboys in 1991. Chris Palmer lost 43-0 to the Steelers in 1999. Butch Davis lost 9-6 to the Seahawks in 2001. Romeo Crennel lost 27-13 to the Bengals in 2005. Eric Mangini lost 34-20 to the Vikings in 2009. Pat Shurmur lost 27-17 to the Bengals in 2011. Can Rob Chudzinski finally break the trend?
