Bill Callahan Rumored for Browns' Offensive Coordinator; Cam Cameron Not Likely

Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports

Several candidates have been revealed for the Browns' offensive coordinator position.

While the Cleveland Browns continue to wait to see if Jim O'Neil or Don Martindale will be their next defensive coordinator, we finally have some news on the team's search for an offensive coordinator. According to Albert Breer of NFL.com, the Browns might be interested in Dallas Cowboys offensive line coach / offensive coordinator Bill Callahan:

In 2013, Jerry Jones stripped the playcalling duties away from Cowboys head coach Jason Garrett and gave them to Callahan, so Callahan was also the team's offensive coordinator.

If the Cowboys bring Scott Linehan aboard and the Cowboys let Callahan out of his contract, he would fit the bill of being the former head coach who Mike Pettine was seeking on his staff. If you recall, Callahan was the Raiders' head coach from 2002-2003, where he compiled a 15-17 record and made it to a Super Bowl. Callahan was with the Jets from 2008-2011, so his time there overlapped with when Pettine was the Jets' defensive coordinator.

Earlier in the day, Mary Kay Cabot reported that former Ravens offensive coordinator, Cam Cameron, who is also a former head coach, could be in the running for Cleveland's job. A little later, she re-tweeted a report that indicated that Cameron was staying put in the college ranks:

Cabot also said that former Tennessee Titans offensive coordinator Dowell Loggains could be in the running for one of two positions in Cleveland: as quarterbacks coach, or as offensive coordinator.
