Playoff talk is nice but a bit premature.

With the Steelers loss to the Jets yesterday it left our Browns in sole possession of first place in the AFC North. This is something that hasn't happened since the mid 90's. It's vey tempting to start thinking playoffs and even speculating on whom we would play if the season ended today, but many teams that have been 6-3 at this point in the season still miss the playoffs. (The Lions last season) in addition; All three of our division opponents are all less than 1 game behind the Browns and we can easily find ourselves in last place as early as next Sunday. Couple that with the fact that the Browns still must battle likes of the Texans @Ravens, Bengals, @Buffalo, Falcons @Carolina and Colts and you quickly realize that we could still realistically finish the balance of games with a 2-5 record to finish with an 8-8 season. Yes, getting Jordon Cameron and Andrew Hawkins back next week should help and hopefully getting all pro Josh Gordon back will also help but will Gordon be the same Gordon of last year or will it take him 3-4 games to get back into both game shape and be "up to speed" in the new Mike Shanahan offense. Let's face it: as Great as Gordon was last year he still struggled with running the correct routes on more than one occasion, not to mention "dogging" it on several other occasions. My greatest hope for this Browns season is that it culminates in a playoff berth and more, but for now; let's curb our enthusiasm, at least until we get to at least 9 wins. If we don't, we may be setting ourselves up for a big letdown.
