NFL Owners Meetings Taking Place From March 23-26

Could anything Browns-related happen at the NFL owners meetings?

The NFL's annual league meeting, otherwise known as the owners meetings, began on Sunday, March 23, and will run through Wednesday, March 26. Here are a few things that are expected to be accomplished at the meetings:

  • On Monday, compensatory picks should be announced. The Browns are not expected to receive any.

  • A vote will be taken on the proposed rules, bylaws, and resolution that were discussed here. There are 21 proposals, so we could see a lot of changes next year, particularly with the replay review system.

  • Playoff expansion is not one of the 21 proposed changes, but it is expected to be discussed, for consideration as early as the 2015 season.

  • Although the bulk of free agency has concluded, agents who have clients still looking for a team will be on hand, likely trying to negotiate a few things. This could be a place where Alex Mack's agent has quick access to every team in the league.

  • The final schedule won't be released, but we might start hearing about a few of the prime time games, or at least something about how the Seattle Seahawks will play the opening game of the season. Future Super Bowl cities could also be discussed.

  • Last year, the Browns were represented by most of their main front office men and head coach at the owner's meetings (including Jimmy Haslam and Rob Chudzinski). There haven't been confirmations yet as to who will attend this year, but I would think that Haslam and Pettine will both be in attendance, along with team president Alec Scheiner. General manager Ray Farmer might also be in attendance.
