I'm sick of the editorials that claim the Browns were slickered by the Mack deal. Sure it would have been a better deal done last year (5 years, maybe$22M guaranteed with a few million less per season)...but that was a Banbardi screw up. The transition tag kept Mack here for 2 years, maybe more. The franchise tag argument is that we would have gotten 2 picks! When was the last time anyone, let alone a center was signed off of a franchise tag?
The franchise is a 1 and done deal. Letting the Jags do what Banbardi didn't do cost a few $ but, kept our player.
Great job by Farmer to recover from Moe & Larry.
In free agency we've added some winners and maturity. I hated to lose TJ but he has had injury issues in the past. Dansby actualy saves $ due to the Jackson roster bonus.
Now parlay the draft into some new young talent to go with the Heckert batch (Winn, Hughes, Skrine, Haden, Gibson, Sheard, Taylor, Gordon, Cameron). I'd like to see a CB, WR, ILB, RB all capable of contibuting this year. I suspect that the with Faulk, Gilkey & Pinkson we have the missing OL piece?
Of course we need a future QB. What would it be like to trade our #4 to get some picks this year and some poor team (Washington?) #1 next year. There are going to be some real stud QBs next year (Jamis, Marriota, Hundley).
