2014 SB Nation Writers NFL Mock Draft - Cleveland Browns Take OT Greg Robinson

Brian Spurlock-USA TODAY Sports

A right tackle at No. 4 overall?

The annual SB Nation Writers Mock Draft is in progress over at our network's draft coverage stream. Similarly to our own community mock draft here at Dawgs By Nature, the way it works is that each NFL blog picks a player for their team when their site is on the clock. Heading into Cleveland's pick, the following three players were already off the board:

(In parenthesis is the average voting rank given on Mocking the Draft by voters -- 1 = F; 2 = D; 3 = C; 4 = B; 5 = A)

  1. Houston: QB Teddy Bridgewater (3.32)
  2. St. Louis: QB Johnny Manziel (2.25)
  3. Jacksonville: DE Jadeveon Clowney (4.81)

Brutal! The top two quarterbacks were off the board, but seeing Manziel go to the Rams was a pretty big surprise. I really love what Sammy Watkins could offer, but given the depth at the receiver class in this draft, and after consulting with my fellow staff writers at Dawgs By Nature, I made what was deemed as a "ballsy" pick at No. 6 overall: OT Greg Robinson.

Chris Pokorny: "The shocker for the Browns in this scenario is that the Rams selected Johnny Manziel. Cleveland fans' desire for Manziel has really started to gain traction over the past month or two, so not being able to secure him or Teddy Bridgewater would be a disappointment. Blake Bortles and Derek Carr would be under consideration by default because they play quarterback, but there isn't as much value at No. 4 overall with those picks.

Greg Robinson would be a bold choice for the Browns, but one who could make sense long-term. It would undoubtedly give the Browns the best offensive tackle situation in the NFL for at least several more years, and Mitchell Schwartz could move inside to solidify the guard position. If the Browns can't retain Alex Mack in 2015, they will have at least strengthened another position on the line to alleviate the blow from Mack's departure. Sammy Watkins would also be an entertaining pick here, but the wide receiver class is deep enough for someone good to be there at No. 26 or No. 35."

To see what Dan Kadar thought of our pick (and what people are saying in the comments section), go here. The voting has us at a grade of 3.51 right now, but if you feel the pick should be rated higher (or lower), feel free to head on over and vote!
