Apparently the rumor mill is turning again, and the Browns are discussing a trade with the Texans for Andre Johnson. Johnson made news with being reluctant to go to minicamps and team workouts, so there is speculation that Andre's time in Houston is coming to a close, and the Browns are being linked to them.
While the Browns have the ammo to trade to Houston, I don't think Andre would enjoy coming here. Andre has given his heart and soul for a team that never made it to the Super Bowl, and I think he would like to go to a contender if anywhere. No guarantees he would be happier here than in Houston
As for the Browns, they could use a WR mentor to Josh Gordon, and Andre is still quite a viable target, and the Browns are definitely in need of more viable receiver talent. Browns aren't desperately in a "win now" mode, so Farmer may Balk at the trade if the Texans want too much for him. There would be instant familiarity as well, since OC Kyle Shanahan was the OC for the Texans a few years ago.
The Texans may be reluctant to trade their star receiver, though. Trading him would still leave them $11.96 dollars in the hole on the year in completely dead money. That deficit might be big enough to disincline the Texans from trying to move him, without an egregious offer being made. The Browns do have the cap space to absorb Johnson's contract, though looking ahead, it may cause some difficulties with other young talent needing to be extended.
Personally, I think it would be an okay move for the Browns, provided it's not too expensive for us. Hoyer/Manziel would have a bona fide #1 WR despite Josh Gordon's absence, and an excellent duo once Gordon returns. Johnson should be very comfortable in the system that Shanahan is working with, and can help mentor the younger guys. What do you guys think?
