What is he thinking?

As a Pittsburgh Steeler fan living in Dallas, Texas, it is not often I get to hear or read news about the Browns although I have a number of family and friends who are Dawg Pounders. The recent draft changed that with the Browns pick of Johnny Football.

So, as an "outsider", I cannot fathom your head coach's approach in the media saying Manziel is not the starter. What on earth is he thinking? I'm not questioning whether he has to win the job, of course he does, but why not just allow that to take its normal course. If I heard right, thousands of season tickets were sold in the hours and days after the pick. And now you have a coach bursting that bubble with comments that didn't need to be said. A total marketing nightmare (other terms apply). Where is your owner and why the hell isn't he telling him to shut his trap.

Football is business, big business. There is nothing that came close to the excitement that Manziel brought to the draft, and now to the Cleveland area. Excitement means $'s and lots of them to the team and area.

Guess the coach thinks the status quo will sell out the stadium this year??? Someone up there suggest a new marketing firm for the team, or a new head coach with some "customer service and marketing experience". Who pays his salary? YOU DO!!

Johnny Football may or may not make it big over time. Watching him in Texas every week, I'm betting on the former. Regardless of whether he does or doesn't, use the fame now, sell tickets, and hope for the best down the road.
