In 2002 the Pittsburg Steelers signed Pittsburg native and former Detroit Lions 2nd round draft pick quarterback Charlie Batch to a 4 year contract. The move to sign Batch was not a surprise considering current Steelers Director of Football Operations Kevin Colbert originally drafted Batch in Detroit. Charlie was a big Pittsburg fan growing up and it was always his dream to be the starting quarterback of the Pittsburg Steelers. But in 2002 he didn't start a game serving backup to Cordell Stewart and Tommy Madox, Then the following year he resigned with the Steelers and saw some action for the next few years until Pittsburg drafted Big Ben Roethlesberger and Ben went on to be a superstar while Batch was to serve as a well overqualified 2nd string quarterback.
The point im trying to make is our the Browns planning to do the same with Brian Hoyer, The hometown kid that loves Cleveland so much he would be willing to do anything to help his team win, even if it means taking a backup role to Johnny Football? Don't take this wrong, i am a huge Manziel fan and i do believe he is going to be a superstar in this league and will forever forge his legacy by winning Cleveland multiple superbowls, but that doesn't mean i don't know talent when i see it and Hoyer undeniably has TALENT. I would love for Hoyer to stay in Cleveland to backup Johnny once Johnny takes over but at the same time i would like to see him go somewhere else where he can have sucess and be appreciated and respected as a starting quarterback in the NFL.
What do you think? Should Brian Hoyer stay in Cleveland to backup Johnny whenever Johnny steps in? We all know he eventually will weather its the beginning of the season, the middle, or the end. Or should Hoyer go somewhere else where he can be a starter? I mean I would love to have a Charlie Batch on our team, because when Ben went down he saved the Steelers ass's more then on a few occasions.
