Johnny Manziel, Cocussions and why size matters.

It was announced yesterday that the Browns QB Johnny Manziel was diagnosed with a concussion 3 days after playing against Kansas City last Sunday. Though there are many questions one could ask about the unusual timing of symptoms, we will assume that it is a legitimate concussion and not something that is conflated with Johnny partying/drinking or having a sore elbow. News was also made that the Browns also lead the league in concussions, not only this year but since 2012. I propose that concussions are correlated with the size of the player. Overall any player can get a concussion at almost anytime if the circumstances are right, however; when you look at the overall size of Browns players who have been concussed: Joe Haden 2-3 times, Andrew Hawkns 2, Taylor Gabriel 2, Travis Bengamin 1-2, Josh McCown, 1-? I placed a question mark here because the Browns coaches always believed McCown when he was clearly not lucid and kept him under center. Add to that list: Tramon Williams and now Johnny Manziel and a clear pattern begins to emerge. There is a reason why the Patriots, Steelers, Broncos Packers etc, win year in and year out: big strong quarterbacks do not get concussed at the same rate that their smaller statured contemporaries do. I write this to argue that Johnny Manziel can not and will not, last long in the NFL (i.e. Stay healthy) to ever develop into a winning QB. RGIII who is 6' 2"has proven last year and 6' 5' Andrew Luck this year, that a running QB can not survive at this level like they could in the college ranks. So not only do you have Johnny's size 5'11" and 190lbs. But you have all the off the field and trust problems. Add on the durability issue and to me: you have the easy answer. The Browns must move on from Manziel if they ever want win.
