The Cleveland Browns announced on Friday that they have claimed WR Shane Wynn off waivers from the Atlanta Falcons. To make room for the move, the team waived WR Paul Browning.
Wynn will certainly be a very interesting prospect for Browns fans to follow. The 5-6, 167-pound receiver went to Glenville High School in Cleveland, OH, and attended Indiana for college. The Browns had a private workout with Wynn prior to this year's draft. When he went undrafted, the team wanted to sign him, be Wynn made the business decision to sign with the Falcons instead.
Wynn ran a lighting-fast 4.29 40-yard dash at Indiana's pro day. He also has experience returning kickoffs and punts, so you can expect him to enter Cleveland's special teams competition come training camp. As for why the Falcons parted ways with him? You won't believe this, Browns fans, but it's true -- they waived him because Carlton Mitchell is back in the NFL! He tried out with the club on Wednesday, and they liked what they saw from him, so he's back in the NFL for the first time since spending training camp with the Buccaneers in 2013.
