The Sunday Five: Third Offensive Minicamp is Approaching

"The Sunday Five" is a loosely-titled piece where I talk about five NFL- or Browns-related topics related to this past week. In today's edition, we take a look at some positive news this past week, including the cover of Madden 2012, rookie participation in camp, and more.

Lawrence Vickers: "I am a West Coast Fullback"

Vickers came right out and said, "I am a West Coast fullback," and I agree that he can be that type of guy. Sure, maybe he is not going to be a huge receiving threat like a Leonard Weaver (a former fullback under Mike Holmgren) is, but I would not go on his limited sample of dropped passes this past season as an indication of what he can do.

Walker: Can Colt McCoy Succeed in Cleveland's Weather?

Even though our long stretch of rain in Cleveland is over and beautiful weather is here, that did not stop ESPN's James Walker from wondering at the start of June whether Browns quarterback Colt McCoy can succeed in inclement weather.

Around the AFC North (6/3): Flacco Not Praised Enough

In today's edition of Around the AFC North, we take a look at our friends over at our Ravens affiliate getting frustrated, whether Pittsburgh should take back a former receiver, and Bengals fans reacting to Cincinnati being ranked as one of the worst organizations in the NFL.

Despite Agent, Greg Little Says He'll Participate in Drills

Remember a couple of weeks ago when Greg Little's agent said that the rookie receiver would not participate in on-the-field drills at Camp Colt to prevent risking injury? Well, apparently the agent assumed a little too much about Little, because the second-round pick has told Mary Kay Cabot of the Plain Dealer otherwise.

Cleveland Browns Rank Strong in Front Office on Fox Sports

The scores from each category were tallied to rank the teams on the list. Overall, the Cleveland Browns ranked as the 21st best organization in the NFL. Here is the breakdown for each category:

Cleveland Browns Rank 15th in Pass Defeats, Per Football Outsiders

Out of 379 pass plays, the Browns had 102 pass defeats, which is just under 27% of the time. For the sake of comparing, the Green Bay Packers led the NFL with a 33% rate, the Pittsburgh Steelers were ahead of the Browns at 28%, and the Cincinnati Bengals and the Baltimore Ravens were behind the Browns with 26% and 22%, respectively.

ESPN Ranks Joe Thomas as the No. 9 Offensive Player in NFL

You can take ESPN's offseason power rankings with a grain of salt if you would like. For instance, back in April when cornerbacks were ranked, over 20 cornerbacks received consideration for being in the top ten in the NFL, but Cleveland's Joe Haden was not one of them.

Joe Thomas Taking Advantage of the Lockout

What has the lockout allowed Joe Thomas to do? It has allowed the Cleveland Browns offensive tackle to get in better shape as he regularly works out at the University of Wisconsin campus.

Peyton Hillis' Madden 2012 Cover

Assuming that a tweet by Chris Littman of the Sporting News is accurate, then the picture to the right is what the cover of Madden 2012, featuring Cleveland Browns running back Peyton Hillis, will look like. I love seeing the cityscape of Cleveland in the background behind Hillis.
