Brownie's Year, Come Claim Your Prize!
Sorry it took so long; it took me a couple of tries before I got it where I wanted it. I give you...
Top 10 Ranked Remaining WR's
Two picks in the fourth round today, and I'm still hopefull the the Browns find a quality WR before the day is over. According to some quick research here's the Top 10 of who's left.
Joe Adams
Jarius Wright
Devon Wylie
Nick Toon
Marvin McNutt
Marvin Jones
Justin Criner
Chris Givens
Eric Page
Keyshawn Martin
From the little bit of homework I've done on each of these guys, I'm slightly encouraged that we can still come away with a guy that may have at one time been considered 2nd or 3rd round talent - depending on who's scouting report you read, of course.
I think for The Browns offense I'd prefer 1. Jarius Wright 2. Nick Toon 3. Marvin Jones 4. Chris Givens.
I've stated in the past that I don't follow the College game, so any of you that do - I'd like to hear your input.
My Rage With Age
First things first, let me apologize to all on the 1st round draft thread for all the negativity. I made the Licensed pessimist look optimistic. As an fyi, while I am a huge Colt fan, I have been a lifelong Browns fan for longer than I care to admit. I like most of you, have lived and died with the team, and after continual let downs, I simply boiled over.
Secondly, let me stress some positives in the draft that I missed yesterday:
We got the RB we wanted, and by all accounts, he seems to be a dynamic, elite back. Shelf life, 3 picks will all be forgotten when he leads the league in rushing next year.
The FO know Colt McCoy well and feel very comfortable that he will never develop into a starting QB, and they got a new QB more to their liking.
The panic for Brandon Weeden
Preface: This post is not an indictment of the player selected, but the value ignored. After all (as realmccoy alluded to), maximizing value in the draft is the GM's job is it not?
As pick 22 was approaching I was praying for Kendall Wright, which is no surprise if you’ve read any of my draft articles. The unlikely Titans grabbed him at 20 instead, which meant Riley Reiff and David DeCastro had kindly slid down the board for excellent value. In my estimation the Browns were still on track for a great draft as these were solid consolation prizes. Indeed they did fly off the board to teams who understood their value at picks 23 and 24, just not to the Browns. No, the Browns bum rushed the stage at pick 22 to turn in a card that read: Brandon Weeden, Oklahoma State Quarterback.
What?! A team that needs everything just took an gigantic reach while top 10 talent was still on the board? This reeked of a panic move, and exactly opposite of what Heckert was preaching the week before the draft:

TLP, Come Claim Your Prize!
On December 19, 2011, a friendly wager was entered into between myself and The Licensed Pessimist on who would be selected first in the draft. While closer than I anticipated, Luck prevailed as the number 1 overall selection last evening. As the winner of said bet, the condition I laid out for everyone's favorite pessimist was to have his avatar be the infamous Clausen/ostrich picture. I am sure everyone is looking forward to this image as much as I am next to TLP's posts. If you would like to rehash the thread, link is provided below.

Kardiac Assessment: Random/Off Topic Post Thread
O.K., this is the third iteration of what I've been trying to do with random and off-topic postings. I received a few suggestions on how this should go down so, based on your ideas, I will not do this weekly. If you feel like it, rec it a couple times so it stays up. When it falls off, I'll put up a new one. Unlike P. Diddy, you lace the track, I lock the flow, so don't slow your roll....never mind. I was never much of a rapper.
Usual O.T. suggestions: Movies, Sports unrelated to Football, TV shows, Cars, Crushes, Food, Current Events and completely random things like: Mythology, Cranes (the bird kind or the motorized kind) and Words that if you say them over and over in your head they begin to lose their meaning.
I was watching Bugs Bunny the other day and he said "ignoramus." I never knew if this was an actual word until I searched it today. It most definitely is.
Tuesday night dinner was pizza followed by cantaloupe to trick myself into thinking I ate healthy. I was craving buttery salty popcorn for a snack during Glee but alas, I caved in and ate dry cheerios instead.
Word until next time:

Mark My Words!
Okay, since we are about a day a way from the draft, I would like to share an idea. For this post, my intentions are for anyone and everyone to put a bold statement in writing about players in this years draft.
For example: I think that Trent Richardson will lead the league in rushing yards next year.
There will be a lot of people who will disagree with me and thats cool. The point of this is to have fun and if by chance anyone is correct, its saved it writing forever (Or until Chris decides to delete it). Thanks and Go Browns!
Browns have been the worst offensive team over the last 10 years
Out of curiosity, I did a quick calculation of average offensive ranking for all 32 teams over the past 10 years. Guess who finished dead last? That's right... the Browns.
