Several Transactions & Injury News

A quick note on some low-key transactions that the Browns made over the past day or so:

  1. Center Greg Eslinger was waived. Taking his place will be center Marvin Philip. Philip comes over after spending a large part of the season on the practice squad of the Pittsburgh Steelers.
  2. Linebacker Colby Buckwoldt, who had two tackles against the Jets this past Sunday, was waived. Taking his place is linebacker Keith Adams. Adams has been in the league for six years, playing in 82 games with 23 starts. In 2005, he started all 16 games for the Eagles and recorded 101 tackles.
  3. Tight end Jonny Harline was released from the practice squad again. Replacing him is tight end Brad Cieslak from the Buffalo Bills' practice squad (he was waived last week). Moderate scouting perhaps?
Several players didn't practice Wednesday. Here is the list, according to the OBR: WR Joe Jurevicius (knee), LB Willie McGinest (hip), LB Antwan Peek (ankle) DL Orpheus Roye (knee), OL Kevin Shaffer (knee), Robaire Smith (back) and FB Lawrence Vickers (flu).

Reportedly, the only one to be concerned with is Peek's. However, Vickers having the flu concerns me. We haven't seen much of Charles Ali this season, but if Vickers is too weak this Sunday, he may be forced to step into the starting role without prior experience.

Snow showers are on the way this weekend. I'm definitely up for seeing white on gameday.

Tomorrow, I'll have two things up. First will be my review of the Jets/Browns contest. Following that will be my "Getting to Know the Enemy" segment with the Buffalo Rumblings' Brian Galliford. Galliford had some very insightful things to say, including how he is disappointed with Lee Evans' contributions this season, along with a convincing rebuttal to the argument that the Bills are weak because they haven't beaten a team with a winning record this season.
